As Rowlet above me has said, more guidance would be nixe as im kinda lost. The layout on mobile is ok but confusing. Im not sure how it is on pc but on mobile im unable to breed my wolves as i cannot seem to find the breed button. This is a stupid complain but i still feel like sayin it. Another thing im agreeing with people on is the rng and difficulty. Its way outta whack and feels grindy and boring and not fun. Another thing thats a stupid complaint is the battle system. This is just personal perference but i dont like the afk battling, i find it very boring when im not being active and inputing attacks. Instead i just watch as my wolves die on their own when i feel like a good attack would save them, or they DO win but i dont gain much valuable loot.

Still very fun tho so i will continue to play.

we desperately need tutorials; i am completely lost. took me forever to figure out how to complete quests for the campaign and breed my wolves, and i still have no idea how to mine. farming is horrible as stated earlier. i shouldn't have to check in every five minutes to babysit it.

I wanted to come back to this by adding how odd it is to me that defeating enemies yields the same amount of xp as your wolves just scratching themselves idly (which for me has just been like. 1-2xp, even after beating a L6 bear multiple times with just 2 L2s and still not a single wild wolf yet at L5 orz). I feel like there should be a bit more reward for grinding/training in order to balance it out

EA feels like a one step forward, three steps back situation. On one hand- the core gameplay loop is just as good as it was in beta, and the many improvements only bolster it. I like that wild wolves are both more common and easier to befriend, that my Bracchuses have a more balanced moveset, and that the groundwork for custom apparel is already in the game in EA. But on the other… the massive amount of EXP required to grind levels on professions and wolves + the difficulty spike in campaign monsters means I get to enjoy less of the good stuff. I was the sort of person who played Lorwolf for hours on end during beta, but now I feel a lot less excited to push on when the same hours of gameplay reward me with little progress to show for it. This level of grind would be okay if I weren't at such a low level, and thus had access to many crafting recipes/game resources/high level wolves/wasn't constantly burning half of my “safe” cooking recipes. As it currently stands, I feel like at best I'm doing a lot of work for less reward, and at worst being punished for wanting to play. The only unenjoyable part of beta for me was the awkward beginning when I had little unlocked, few leveled wolves, and couldn't reliably cook food to feed them, and that process feels like it's been stretched out way longer than it should be.

I really hope the devs are paying attention to the feedback and willing to implement these changes, because I really worry for the longevity of this game if they don't. Pet sim games are already very niche as is, and that audience is usually looking for a casual game without extreme grind. I really want Lorwolf to become the top-tier pet sim I know it can be, and so much of my enjoyment of the beta came from the fact that I could play as much as I wanted without feeling I was falling behind, missing out on anything, or wasting my time.

It seems like most of my sentiments are echoed. The farming mechanic is very punishing, especially as a new player trying to familiarize myself with things— I am constantly running around doing other tasks while the farm is running in the background, and more often than not I forget to go look at it every couple minutes and my crops fail. Even having the option to pay a small fee to revive crops or have some fertilizer on it or something would make me feel a lot better about it. It’s tedious and needlessly complicated. I shouldn’t have to hold its hand while also trying to fish, and cook, and hunt, and fight, and mine, and craft, and whatever else I happen to be doing.

I think the marker of a good petsim mechanic is that I don’t feel like I need to have multiple tabs open Just In Case. I’ve intentionally gone in blind to see how it feels to play this game with no outside help or resources and it’s… frustrating, to say the least. I do not expect for there to be a full fledged tutorial in early access, but basic information for many things is not readily available and oftentimes I have to deliberately fail the first time I do something so I can see how it works. It’s not fun. It’s not intuitive. I’m willing to give this game a shot but I feel like I’m fighting to succeed against a game that doesn’t want me to. I see a lot of potential, though!!!

I was a beta tester, and things seem… about the same.

Lots of potential, but needs a LOT of balancing work.

It took way, way, way too long to get from lvl 1, and I'm still struggling to defeat enemies. I can't even get past the cat mission in goldenrun's route because I'm not strong enough, but I can't actually win any battles to GET stronger, and the battles I DO win give so little xp I can't lvl up.

Like others have said, the professions need work as well. Fishing is fun, but suffers from the same level climb as everything else does. I can very easily see myself getting sick of the level climbing and giving up. The lack of tutorials also makes it hard to understand what you should be doing. I need wheelbarrows for farming, but how do I get those? Do I get them by crafting them? If so, how do I get the recipe? How do I get the metal to make anything when I can't mine without a pick that requires said metal to make?

These issues need fixed before full release. This is the same thing that killed Dappervolk within a month. The majority of players don't want a grindfest for a pet sim.

I'm feeling the same as everyone, pretty much.

I signed up mostly on a whim and hey, sure, why not try this new game? As such, I'm coming in not knowing practically anything about the game. And it all just feels... like I'm not leveled enough for anything on the site. Or that I don't have enough lorwolves.

The Activities panel is telling me to do things I literally cannot do. 0/1 Gauntlet. I tried that and got wiped. 1/3 Craft. I have hardly any recipes and I barely got that one today because I managed to get lucky enough in combat yesterday. Mining takes forever and I don't know how to get the tools to make it go faster. And really, every profession other than Cooking is making me choose whether I want to stand a chance in Campaign battles or do that because I don't even have enough lorwolves for a full party so I'm sacrificing Stamina/Food to do them.

I've seen 0 wild wolves and the female from my first pair has a 3-day cooldown before she can nest, and I don't know what that'll mean.

Pretty much the only things I've had a positive experience with are 1) Fishing, 2) Cooking, and 3) Arena.

Arena I have more to say about, though. I had to trial-and-error figure out how to play it. How do I get fighters? How to I level them? I had to experiment a bit before I figured it out. But once I did I went from getting last to getting first! (Against bots, but yeah) And with how fun it is, it really showcases the complexities of the combat system and how fun it can be.

Yet it takes so long to play that I can't play it when I feel like it - I have to put aside a huge amount of time to play it. I normally can't/don't play these kinds of games all day, especially not babysitting it.

I am all for games that kick your tail and make you feel the need to come back later when you're better equipped/leveled/skilled. But it shouldn't do that in nearly every aspect. Everything I've tried to engage with makes me feel like I should come back later, only to find out that there are no entry-level tasks that will help me level up that skill. The best I can do other than throwing my lorwolves against the same brick wall over and over again is to wait until I have usable puppies, but that's going to take a long time. So back to the wall, I guess.

The issue causing the ”mountain” of the campaign is that your wolves cannot level up fast enough to keep pace with your progression through the quests.

I’m already on the third quest, but I only have one Wolf at level 2, and she can’t defeat any of the enemies. Now I’m stuck. Because there aren’t any weaker enemies (like the deer, which for some reason have been removed since beta) for me to level up with. Because I can’t defeat any enemies, I’m stuck trying to level up 1 xp at a time by scratching myself.

Also, the xp rewards are not scaled to match the difficulty of the task.

Personally, I think that defeating a level 6 bear with one level 2 Bracchus should NOT be giving me JUST 1 xp.

The fact that my efforts are not proportional to the rewards destroys my motivation to play the campaign, and could eventually escalate to the entirety of Lorwolf.

1 xp should be for simple actions, like rolling and scratching. Greater (but not much) xp should be given for successful hunts, catching bugs, finding berries. Going into the cave and finding mushrooms should give slightly more, since you’re taking an actual risk by entering the cave. Wild wolf encounters could potentially give the next level of xp, but I don’t think that’s absolutely necessary.

Fights (like with Bovius, minibosses like bears, and bosses like Simburs) should give a proportional amount of xp depending on the number and level of the enemies, the number and levels of your wolves, and how powerful the species of enemy is. But winning fights should always give at least a decent chunk of xp.

I haven't even tried most of the professions other than cooking and fishing because I went right to messing around with the campaign. Somehow I started with a bunch of moonwater to boost the stamina, but otherwise it feels like I'm supposed to be taking this game really slowly. It doesn't help that this early Icerun mission has you go up against three bovines or whatever they're called. Maybe I'm not supposed to have gotten to this campaign mission at this point.

Things are a little confusing, so I'm slowly figuring them out. Also I keep going through the 1st Icerun area desperately hoping for a wild wolf encounter. I wonder if the other pack areas have better rates.

started out with early access here, and this is the third pet site i'm getting into. my impressions are more or less the same as everyone else's - i don't think i'll do farming again after my first run, wheat's got a lot more water and compost points than corn and i still managed to let them wilt. for the time being, it needs too much attention for something that has the vibes of a waiting game.

everything else is fine, but it's definitely disheartening to see how much progress i have to make to get past lvl 1 in most professions. i can't imagine the slog to get to 12. for mining… i wish i could get a pickaxe and a wheel sooner.

also, im wondering if the breed combo we started out with affects our gameplay. im doing fine with a lupin and a jocol - i can't win all of the campaign battles, but i expected it as a newbie. it's something that i kinda want to address in a new thread, maybe?

there are tutorials in the forums and in their youtube channel, which i think should have been more accessible - perhaps as a pop up as soon as you start the game. it makes a good stand in for a built-in tutorial, especially this early in development.

overall, this is just my first day, and i'm willing to stick around and see lorwolf improve. i already love that feeding is not compulsory and battles are automated. i'm digging the synergies thing going on too - in theory, it sounds fun to experiment with!
