[Mining] Gem Drops

So I've gotten only Sapphires in the Fluorescent Fountains and Emeralds in the Lucid Lagoon.

Anybody know which gems drop in the other areas?

Another random observation: they seem to drop about as frequently as MS shards. Might just be my impression, tho.

Edit to add: Thanks to Eirwen and Frostine, I think the drop places are as follows:

AreaGem
Lucid LagoonEmerald
Spooky SpiresCitrine
Growling GrottoAmethyst
Fluorescent FountainSapphire
Deep DeepRuby

Glowing Grotto has Amethyst I think. Haven't seen one but only unlocked it yesterday. My friend got them though I'm pretty sure.

@Wulfraptor

It only drops in the Fluorescent Fountain, rather rarely at that. I get more MS/sapphire drops than fluorescent gems D:

I really don't understand the recipe/item requirement thing... You can 'learn' recipes that you don't currently have access, or probably don't, to the items required for them (unless you buy them in the flea market). Case in point. The earring recipes are all lvl 10 or 15 recipes. I craft and mine at about the same frequency so crafting is lvl 14 and mining is 19. I won't be able to craft the silver ruby earrings for a long long long time (since new areas of mining are at such distant levels from each other and take forever to get to), and rubies are found, apparently, at the deepest mine.... BUT I can learn the recipe at lvl 10 crafting??? Pickaxes and wheels are kind of the same. In addition to that, it doesn't make sense to me why you can't use a pickax/wheel of the same material at the same level. For example a mithril wheel you can use at level 20 mining but to use a mithril pickaxe you have to be level 30... and if I remember right, correct me if I'm wrong.. it's been a while since I moved to another cave area, you can't even use an item made from an ore you aren't able to mine yet.. so like with the mithrel, even though it is level 20, can't use until level 27 when you move into the cave you can actually mine it.. (I could be wrong about that though)

Yeah there seem to be a lot of weird choices when it comes to level limits throughout the game. I wish they'd streamline it so that it is a. more even (e.g. the mithril pickaxe and mithril wheels have the same level requirement) and b. more logical (to avoid things as being able to learn the ruby recipe at crafting lv10, despite requiring lv 62 or something to actually find the ruby)

Oh man THANK YOU for posting this; I was driving myself nuts trying to find a guide that would actually say which ones dropped where — hopefully at some point the Official Mining Guide Post will update to include gems, but in the meantime, you have done us all a good service.
