Yeah, the only way to prevent a wolf from being released, IIRC, is to have a companion on play cooldownspecifically attached to them. You can release a wolf with a companion not on CD, I've done it when lazy to release fodder dogs. Companion just goes back into your inventory. All anyone can do until the devs intervene with an actual solution is keep companions with long CDs on their permas. :S

For anyone interested or invested in this, here is my brief “update”.
I was able to get her link and ID- if you wanted to see my girl, she is here- so pretty :'(. I sent an email with the additional information of her ID# Dec 7, and I am still waiting to hear back. I haven't really touched LW since her release, both because everytime I view my Den I get sad again and out of a desire to not make any potential restoration more complicated by continuing to interact with the site and gaining/spending currency. Idk if that would cause a problem, but I figure it can't hurt. I'm still holding out hope that the “5-7 business day” response is slowed by the holidays and site development, but it's getting hard to stay positive :(
I'm really sorry they haven't gotten back to you yet, she is very lovely. The time of year wasn't an issue when this actually occurred, but I'm sure it will continue to delay the resolution to this now. :/ They really need to do something to fix this for you, and to prevent it from being a problem for anyone else in the future too. Some kind of account restoration function so people can take care of it on their own-- no additional queues for staff, and players don't have to wait for someone to get around to it for them like this.

this got me freaked out enough to add this css in browser:
#sellWolf {display: none;}
it removes the 'release wolf' button entirely. I have to disable it every time I want to release a wolf, which might be too much work for some people. I don't do it often so I'd rather have that safety. I really wish there was a way to add css on mobile, since that's where the bigger danger is for me.
@Blizzard Hi there! I wanted to follow this up for you but looks like Glen Da was already restored at 22:09 Server Time last night and I can see that she's back in your den. In future, players can bump the ticket by messaging support@lorwolf.com after 14 days. We do have a rule that states to not post about your ticket in the forums for account security reasons as well as moderators, and other players being unable to assist you with tickets.
We are looking into the release issues players are facing, but any permanent solutions will take time to implement. Once a solution is complete, we will post a Dev Update or Patch Note informing the community of the change. Thank you.
As the wolf has now been restored, I will be locking this thread and moving it to the Questions and Help forum area.
