[Cooking] Rework food timers

It takes about 3 minutes to drain 1 to 5 wolves in the campaign if you are playing -slowly-

At this time, you can cook 0 sushi.

You can also make yourself 2 sandwiches and eat them in the time it takes to make 0 sushi. if you as a player lack stamina xD

I cannot feed even 1 wolf to the top with these timer rates even with a decent level in cooking and an Epic recipe.

I can swap out my wolves for a fresh set in the time it takes to cook 1 sushi, the second one is still pending.

To reduce the amount of floating food, we should be incentivised to feed our wolves instead of waiting out timers.

The cooking speed increase with the level is negligible to the point it doesn't matter. It should be 2x your level to make any noticeable difference. People at level 50 deserve to cook two items at the time of 1.

Not many people go online every few minutes to check their timers and reset them to stack up on 'sushi' which would be the optimal way to get stacks of good food to use up, but not many play it like this. Or in the case of sushi, every hour or so if you have an upgraded pot?

Active players will probably grind in the campaign for... let's say an hour non-stop and will speed through the 20 encounters in less than a minute. An active player will also more actively pay attention to the other timers in this game, but the food simply will not keep up with their activity. For them the sushi is still cooking, they just about got to feed their 5 wolf party to 80 stamina in one hour, and the sushi is still cooking.

Consider rebalancing the cooking speed and the speed bonus from levels. Currently, it is too slow.

The core gameplay loop was at least functional at the rates it launched with, the proposed cooking and stamina changes appear to crater that at the moment and make it very unsustainable (without paying for more cooking slots? Even then?), so I'm really not sure what problem they are trying to fix. I don't think this solution alone is enough to fix the problems that would come from these changes, especially for new people just joining the site-- but some degree of heavier changes like one you have proposed are probably going to be necessary if they don't want new users to just get bored and quit because they don't have much in the way of stockpiled resources & can't make a sustainable dent in that problem without sitting around on their hands and just not interacting with the site at all (or sitting and watching paint dry with the awkward too-short-to-leave, too-long-to-stay timers) while they do so. Bleh.

Tl;dr support these kind of changes, some sort of massive overhaul of most of the game's systems is going to have to take place in the long run to make it sustainable without also becoming p2w.

Correct, it is not the only change needed, but it would be an important one as sushi would otherwise make great food were it not for the slow timer. But what about the other foods, why should I make seafood feasts? It's also a long cook.

Tuna is a 20-sum stamina to 80-sum food, that's pretty neat, while seafood feast is 40-sum to 80-sum, that's pretty bad, 3 resources versus 8. and 3 fold increase versus a one fold increase.

Lowering stamina for the raw feast would not fix it, but hey...if the recipe gave out 2 feasts instead, the stamina conversion between that specific sushi recipe and the seafood feast would suddenly be equal again.

And I'll keep repeating myself, increasing output from food would only make balancing easier as that food can have lower stamina values while still being a net positive by quantity.

I think a very important thing for the dev staff would be to make an unbiased mathematical evaluation of their food. Ludology and gamedesign theory are a thing!

Especially with the timers and stamina values of course.

I would definitely love to see the complex food items halved in time, minimum. I want to cook so many of the complex recipes because I like having a clean inventory! But they take so much time I get so many more raw food items it just doesn't hold up and I can't clear the inventory by using up more items, I have to switch to the lesser food items to even have a chance.

Huge support! I was looking around for different suggestions to cooking, since I have one of my own, but I think it would be best to add my suggestion onto this one here.
Cutting down the time it takes to cook sounds like a great idea, ESPECIALLY as you level up. It doesn’t seem rewarding enough to simply unlock the ability to cook different food, especially when that food is not efficient to cook right now. This one seems like it could help a TON.
My personal suggestion is to increase the slots added when you expand your pot. Of course I do not know coding, so this suggestion would depend on if/how the devs could track how many unlocks you’ve purchased in cooking, and add the respective amount of extra slots. This would both make cooking so much less painful and not hurt the players who have paid all the moonstones to have all slots open.

Not to mention I might actually bother paying 100ms if I got more than 4 slots, I’m not paying $10 usd to be able to cook one extra fish platter lol that’s laughable.

Having to have a whole other window open (if your lucky enough to have a big enough screen for that) babysitting it the whole time, or checking in every 10 minutes, I feel like I am having to focus more on a passive thing than I am getting to have fun on this amazing game staff are creating.
Maybe a combination of changing cooking durations and playing with the numbers of slots available would be able to remedy the pain I think many players are feeling with cooking right now. I’ve also noticed suggestions of making the slots for FINISHED foods, which to me still wouldn’t be balanced enough for everything that you need to be feeding for. Even switching out your wolves instead of feeding is inefficient because it only takes 1-2 minutes to totally drain a stamina bar.
This may seem all over the place, autism and I don’t have an hour to put this all in the right order, I hope you guys can gather what I’m trying to say xD
