I have to agree with much of the sentiment here. Seeing the prices on the items for the holiday already made my jaw drop, but on top of that they're soft-retiring after a single year? There's no way casual players are ever going to be able to get one of each item, let alone multiples of their favorites! That is beyond disappointing, especially given the limited apparel selection available from the site and not custom usermade.
I like Abyssal's suggestion- have the new stuff be available first and on the front, but the older stuff still available for purchase whether it's in its own tab, or just shuffled below the new. I think the lootbox could still be viable even with this- if it's cheaper than the holiday items/for pebbles rather than tickets, then it gives an opportunity for an alternate but less controlled way to acquire the holiday items.
With the prices the way they are, I feel like the site is going to need to give at least a couple years for each set before even considering soft-retiring. Personally, I think the cost is prohibitive enough in itself to warrant no soft-retiring at all, but if they insist on forcing rarity on holiday items then the cost of the items needs to be severely reduced or they need to wait a few years before soft-retiring.
Now obviously this is the first day of the holiday, and it lasts for almost a month, but I can say that I personally do not have every day all day of that time frame to grind tickets. I will not be able to acquire all of the items I want, let alone more than one of any set. As a player that likes to dress my wolves and does not purchase custom apparel, it's very upsetting and feels very much like a bit of a slap in the face. The total number of tickets just to get ONE of every item is insurmountable with the time I have available to me, and it's unbelievably disheartening. Honestly, it makes me not even want to participate because I know I wont be able to get the things I want anyways. Maybe this will change with more time and we see how the tickets are given out, but this first look at how the holiday is going to be is not encouraging. Hopefully my mind is changed and my estimations are proven wrong, and the prices are not as astronomical as they appear. :/
