While trying out the new Icerun Trials I noticed something very upsetting. Right now, it's honestly really painful to try out new teams because of all the cooldowns and food costs attached to any battle-related activities on the site.
Want to try out different companions? Better make sure not to play with any of your companions for the next couple of hours or you won't be able to switch them. Or maybe a couple of days if you're like me and keep forgetting.
Want to switch the wolf breed you're using? Sorry! If you just changed it, you'll have to wait 15 minutes.
Want to check if a new companion is really worth buying? Well, you'll just have to buy it. Good luck getting those kickstarter ones!
Want to try out your new team in the gauntlet? Have fun wasting at least 150 stamina and waiting until you finally reach the level you keep losing at, only to lose again. (Sometimes literally all you want to test is the position of your wolves and it's still so expensive!!) Sure, it's better in the trials, but you're forever stuck on the same level and let's be honest, 60 stamina minimum is still not great. Not to mention the event only lasts a month.
In the campaign then? Only if you want to spend anywhere from 5 to 500 stamina before you encounter a boss. Of course there's always the option to try it on the normal enemies, but let's be real, any team of two wolves will beat those.
It's genuinely so discouraging to try out different teams, which is a real shame because I think a lot of combinations could do really cool things! But I honestly can't put in all of that energy just to see them probably fail...
So, I think it would be great if there was something like a practice arena where we could test out different wolf/companion teams.
How I see this working is that you get to set up a team of any wolf breeds and any companions, even ones you don't own. Then you get to battle against a random group of 5 companions, like in the gauntlet. (It would be great if you could choose these too, but I don't think it's entirely necessary.) You should also be able to choose the levels of your team and the opponent.
Maybe there would even be an option to save teams? Or a way to view the battle turn by turn?
Other than that, there would be absolutely nothing to it. It's just for trying out new teams. You don't get any rewards and it doesn't count for any activities or achievements.
Would love to hear what other players think about this. <3
