Forum Post Paragraph Canyon

Hello! So I'm not sure whether this is a bug or just user error on my part, but does anyone know the cause of the massive gap that happens between paragraphs when you press Enter twice? I like to have some space between my paragraphs so that they don't stick together into a single wall of text (something that happens when I press Enter just once), but I also don't want a huge chasm that makes my Forum posts unnecessarily large and full of negative space. It seems like some people have figured out how to have a single-line gap between their paragraphs, but I'm not quite there yet.

Edit: the canyon also seems to be of variable size depending on how much text is already in the post. I'll put a reply to demonstrate

It might* be something related to the code not removing formatting when text is edited prior to submitting vs just just posted off the cuff without any going back and tweaking beforehand? You can get rid of some of it by going back to edit the post and taking a look at what's going in in the code view; often ditching paragraph & extra break snippets fixes it for me. I'd call it a bug for sure, but one that may be difficult to address without doing some heavy lifting on the backend of the forums. Which they really need anyway, so here's hoping. I'm too lazy to futz with it most of the time, so if I don't want to do battle with it I'll write a post in n++ (or whatever other notepad style editor) and just paste it directly, to give the forums the least amount of chance to mess it all up. It doesn't work 100% of the time, and user workarounds shouldn't be considered a "fix", but it is what it is for now I suppose.

Yeah I noticed this as well, and I feel like it wasn't always this way? It's actually making me miss part of people's messages, because if they add a short enough message after the big paragraph break I mistake it for part of a forum signature.

It didn't happen before the Icerun update. It's SO ANNOYING

For me, if I press enter once, it doesn't even do what it's supposed to do so I have to press it again and then backspace to make it sort of normal.

Thanks for the input re: code view @Reave ! I hadn't considered that it could be a problem with whatever generates the HTML on the posts. I'll be sure to experiment a bit so I can work around the issue until a fix rolls out

I hope it works out for ya at least some of the time! It doesn't always seem to be the cause, which makes it more confusing if it's two problems that have the same end result, but... I can't begin to speculate what anything looks like under the hood, so it could be a red herring or not! Sorry I don't have a definite answer, hahaha.
