[Companions] Cooldown Question

Hey folks,

Is there a reason that the companions get stuck on a wolf once they've been bonded?

Like... its so annoying? I want to level them up and bond with them, but the number of times I've ended up with them stuck on a Wolf that is not a good match for hunting or whatever is driving me bonkers to the point where I just don't bother bonding with them anymore.

So I wondered... is there a reason they get locked to the wolf once you click that button?

IIRC, it's because the CD is actually attached to the wolf and not the companion, so if you were able to freely swap them around, there would be no play CDs at all, and they don't want them to be spammable.

There have been a couple of threads in the suggestions forums for ways to change the way companion CDs work while still limiting them to a reasonable degree / not making them spammable, but unfortunately, overall it hasn't really gotten much attention. The only real solution atm is to have the den room & enough leveled wolves dedicated to specific hunts, or to not have a permanent companion at all on your hunting wolves so you can swap them between several as needed, since you can remove a companion after you send a hunt and it still gets XP.
