As general advice, I’d say the Guides forums have a lot of useful info to get started, so it might be worth checking out! And the other forums as well, there’s always some people giving out free or very cheap wolves to newbies. I'd personally recommend doing the campaign as much as you can - it's a super good way to get food and chances to get wild wolves!

Welcome aboard! My advice is, collect pebble companions! (Companions that give pebbles), they will make you money in the long run.
Also I am giving free level 10 wolves to new players if you want some! (Up to 5)

Fish as much as you can! Once you hit a high enough level, you’ll start getting fish encounters in certain campaign zones (like the first sword in Icerun) and you can actually make food profit while grinding those areas, especially if you cook ‘em.
