Puppies. Help please!

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with my question. I know that my account was created in 2022, but I just started playing this game last week. Haha... I feel a little lost, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I recently got three new puppies and I was wondering if I needed to train them while they were still young or if they just sat there filling a spot until they are old enough to do something.

Thank you for your help!

You have to wait until they're an adult to do anything with them!

You can choose a companion to put on them and play with them! You’ll either be able to get items or pebbles, or level them up from playing with them, depending on your choice of companion. So they aren’t totally useless as pups!

Thank you for that information. A companion... Hmm.. Where would I be able to get a companion?

The basidio in the mole market companion rotation is available for 450 pebbles per-- they reward XP, so you can start leveling pups as soon as they're born (either for your own use or for release, which gets you a knucklebone token to likewise use or sell once the wolves are level 10). When you don't have many wolves, it pays to play with them without paying Nana.

Once you get more wolves, if you decide you want to make it more of a routine thing to level dogs for whatever purpose, doing it manually for every one of 'em will eventually become tedious. In that case, there are other cheap companions in the mole market that will give you pebbles for playing with them. When you have a few of those companions at level 10, equip 2 for every frog companion you have on other wolves. Then when you play using Nana, you shouldn't lose money-- you won't make a ton either, but the point is to just not lose any. Additionally, you can level the same type of companion faster by equipping them in multiples on several different wolves. The other upshot to this is that it takes 0 stamina to level wolves this way.
