Limit number of sales threads in Lorwolf Trades

With how few topics show up on the first page, it would be ideal to limit the number of sales threads a person can have at any given time. I feel like three should give you some leeway with what you might want to trade. Currency, Wolves, and then Items, potentially?

Alternately, maybe we can have a dedicated item trade forum, and a dedicated wolf forum. This would make finding what you want a bit easier.

Splitting the forums seems like the way to go as Lorwolf gets more players. Limiting the amount of threads seems hellish to moderate and unnecessary when there are other alternatives.

I think it could also help to have a feed of recent forum POSTS instead of recent forum threads/topics on the main forum page, or the option to switch between the two. That way when a thread gets a bump post when the sale post is updated, it’s more widely visible without having to go into trades specifically

Super support for both! There are some players who make a thousand different sales posts for their wolves in just a few minutes, which I understand, but it clutters up the recent topics and trades sections. Cutting down on this would be great!

Not a big fan of a hard limit on how many threads one can have in that forum. How would that even work? Am I simply unable to create a new thread if I am at the limit of 3. Meaning I'll have to dig through the forum to find one of my older posts so that I can rename the thread and change the OP? (Also keep in mind that the forums on LW do not give a timestamp on when they were last edited. Often when I see a thread that already has multiple replies I skip it, because someone else probably already got to the deal before I did. Or I open the thread to see how old it is. If I then see it is already months old, I assume it was incorrectly necroed and exit it as well.) Or do I then have to delete my old thread to make a new one? Or is there some sort of time limit that, once a thread has passed a certain age, I am allowed a 4th thread?

long story short, I don't think that incorporating such a hard coded limit is going to solve any issues.. Or at least, it will create more issues than it solves..

That being said - although this is venturing into rule territory and not gameplay territory - I do think that there should be some sort of code of conduct when it comes to spamming the forums with multiple sales threads that could have very easily been incorporated into a single thread. But honestly, I think that is something the staff and mods should handle, and not something that should affect everyone else by hardcoding a limit into the forums.

@Gaia I certainly don't mean a hard coded limit. That certainly would cause more issues, than it would solve.

I do mean more like active threads and maybe encouraging people to reuse them, given we can now edit both titles and posts. If a person is advertising the same wolf over two threads, there should absolutely be something that can be done with one of them? I guess I might be asking for a clarification of rules regarding just having so many threads.

Alternately, I'd be okay with people in general having a lot of threads, if more topics were also just shown, or the forums were split into items, or wolves.

Apologies, I think I entirely misinterpreted the OP in that case! But it seems we are on the same page for sure. Having a rule or forum code of conduct about the usage of the forum, how many threads one should have, etc. I think would greatly benefit the website, as would just in general a bit of a glow up for the forums. The current UX design leaves some things to be desired for sure. Improving those (more threads on a page, improvements to the 'recent post' section, etc.) on top of some rule additions/clarifications would definitely help in making the forums more usable for players.

@Gaia CS hard codes a limit. Users are allowed 1 sales thread at a time because it. If you try to create another thread, it links you to your thread (you can have it deleted by mods to start over or I think it auto deletes after like a year of inactivity?)

Support of either a hard coded limit or just a rule.theres a few users who spam the same sales post in a new thread vs just replying and bumping their thread. Dividing Wolves/Items would help a lot I think

@lissajo CS? What's that?
It hasn't changed my mind though; it sounds very roundabout and harsh. Because I can definitely see a reason for an individual to have multiple threads without it being spammy. Imagine an auction for a very pretty wild wolf, while also having a general puppery with pups from nests that has been round for months and bumped whenever new pups are born, while also having .. I don't know, a leveling service for wolves, and another thread in which they are selling food. It feels very logical to not throw them all into a single thread, it also feels punishing to force this player to choose to only do one thing at a time. So while it might technically be possible, I just don't think it is the solution to the problem. The problem doesn't seem to be people having multiple threads, it is them having so many threads when there really is no need to, and in doing so flooding the forum. So it is a rule/behaviour thing that shouldn't be hard limited with code, but should be handled by rules, guidelines and mods.
