[Released Wolves] Adoption Center

I always felt rather disheartened at the thought of some very nice looking wolves being yeeted out of existence permanently. I'd love to see some type of "adoption center" or "wildlife center" or 'whatever you wanna call it', where users can pay a fee (can be hefty as a site currency sink?) to adopt wolves that were released "into the wilds", to give old wolves a chance at another life/owner. (Something akin to the Adoption Center on Neopets or Goatlings.)

As a heads-up, there already is a similar suggestion for something like this right here: https://www.lorwolf.com/Forum/View?id=6820

As for this specific suggestion; no support. There are many different reasons why someone releases a wolf. This can simply be a lack of den space, the rewards releasing gives, but can also be for personal reasons, lore reasons, etc. that that specific wolf is no longer part of the den. It would completely ruin the lore if that wolf then goes on to go to someone else's den. I don't want that. If I release a wolf, I release to remove it from the game. If I had wanted it to simply change hands, I would've done a giveaway.

What I can support is the option to specifically choose to donate a wolf to an adoption center like feature. Donating should not have the same rewards as releasing a wolf. (so no pebbles, event ticket or knuclebone token)

I would definitely support an adoption center in the way Gaia suggested it, and I'd think it'd be really fun that way! but I'm iffy on it being for released wolves. However if for releasing I'm opposed to it being non optional(and I think you should have to go out of your way to do it) but neutral-ish leaning towards no support on it existing for released wolves even if optional

Entirely ignoring lore or any other reasons: This would theoretically allow people to get the parents/offspring of someone else's wolf and change its name, thereby ruining the offspring list and/or parent names. Or possibly naming it to something undesirable for whatever reason. I can't tell you how many people that would upset.

I totally get it. I'm sad about some released wolfs, too. I wish there was a way to pull them back from the beyond. But I think if anything, it would have to be something like, User A requests a released wolf, and User B, who released the wolf, is sent a message something like, "[User A] would like to buy this wolf you released. Would you like to let them track down and adopt the wolf into their den?" or... something to that effect. So people have control over whether they want that wolf to stay released or not. And can maybe turn it off per wolf so some wolfs can never be requested. I dunno. But anyway.

I could totally support some sort of optional adoption home that you can send wolves to, but being able to adopt released wolves is unfortunately problematic.

No Support. If a wolf has been released, they've been released and we shouldn't be able to bother who released the wolf to get them back for our own means. I would be okay with an adoption center that users put wolves into themselves, but not one that takes a released wolf from being released. Additionally, releasing wolves is good for the game. It takes wolves from the breeding pool, so the onsite wolf population can actually breed more wolves, instead of everyone having a full den so no additional wolves can be added. Another reason that it's not ideal, is because it would yeet the ID market into oblivion, and cause chaos as everyone went to adopt all the 4 digits and 5 digits that have been released.

i'll support an option to maybe Donate a wolf to an adoption center, but i don't support the suggestion as it stands. i put my wolves up for sale for a while, and when nobody buys them that's it and they get the boot and i would feel weird about them possibly showing back up as available dogs for adoption after that

I support a donation based system. Besides, the player donating is FULL aware that a person adopting the wolf can and might rename it. Releasing a wolf is a good way to free up space and keep names as is. But pretty wolves that won’t be released could go to the adoption center. And they could have a timer so that it doesn’t fill up, such as:

Wolf name- ID#

x-day(s) until release

but I do support an adoption center!

I feel like every adoption center or giveaway item bin usually results in just a hoard of trash to sift on a screen, so no support but I do understand the sentiment.

I agree here, I also feel like it could create bitterness at pretty wolves being released especially if it's the wolf you needed for a breeding project.

Another thing is that I think the adoption center would need a fee of at least 10k or a limit like one per week, so that it doesn't wind up just being a bunch of released wolves.

edit for clarity: the fee just vanishes like pebbles sent to the mole market.
