Nothing bad will happen if you can't send some expecting wolves to the nest right away. It just means you have to wait longer to get the puppies.

You don't even need moonstones, you can expand individual den slots with pebbles. And those are relatively easy to farm. :) But as chronos said, no man overboard if you can't birth the nest right away. They won't die or anything. You could theoretically keep them there indefinitely without any negative side effects
