I usually buy one of everything. More if I really like it (like the apparel for this year, I adore it, especially the hair). Thankfully, I bought all the returning items last year, so only had to worry about grabbing the new companions and apparel. xD

Usually, I'd go for 1 each of the apparel set and both companions (more if I really like them). But, and this is a silly confession, I have a phobia of catfish, so I highly doubt I'll be getting either of those two companions, and may limit how much of the apparel I get. Certainly not the one that gives them the whiskers.
I miiiiight spend the rest of my tickets on the loot boxes in an attempt to get more Vulkira. I adored them last year, and can't get enough of them.
Not quitting, just downsizing.
