Serious, Curious Question

Okay, so I've been on this site for a few days now and have bought a few wolves, been doing achievements and activities etc daily... and I'm settling in alright. But when visiting the Flea Market to browse things occasionally etc..

I have noticed the prices of things.

My question is this, and I'm honestly just curious and not complaining lol, but how come things are so pricey?? Is it just that easy to make pebbles and moonstones the further in the game you get?? Like, for example, I just bred 2 wolves I bought to outside studs and noticed that most studs are 35k or more for studding, and I wondered why that was.

It's gotta be cause even thought that number seems large in the beginning, it really isn't the higher professions and further in campaign you get, right??

Lorwolf had a pebble inflation issue rn, since there’s few worthwhile pebble sinks and some sources of pebbles produce more pebbles than they cost. So most people have switched to using moonstones for their reasonable prices.

There are also not a lot of trade listings in general, because the active user count is low and most listings expire. It's not convenient to relist things on the market, especially wolves. Therefore, most people opt to not list.

I suppose that would do it. Kinda sad though, this is a great lil game for what it's meant to be. I'm really enjoying everything so far. Hopefully more people will discover it!

Yeah, there's a long history of how this situation came to be. Hope the owners decide to turn the narrative around someday. I'm glad you're having fun! It's nice to hear.

Sadly they appear to be stuck in a rut that they haven't been able to get out of yet, despite people with a lot of indie dev experience trying their best to help. :P They semi-recently lost the Head Moderator and haven't seemed to be able to replace them. That infrequent but at least visible interaction helped a little, and actually (at least allegedly) ensured feedback was passed along back to the devs. Might be a money thing-- They've said LW doesn't make enough money to be solvent on its own at this point, which... that was an unfortunately very foreseeable consequence of how the business has been run so far (no meaningful communication with the players being the primary culprit, nobody can have faith in something if they never hear what the plans are or what is being worked on), and these things are businesses first. :S It's a shame, but it is what it is! Hopefully they can turn it around.

The game itself is still a fun little distraction, but you kinda gotta consider it a single player game with some optional bartering/trading on the side. More people would sell stuff more regularly if they made it easier to relist items and dogs. It would also help if they fixed the way sorting the dogs works, it's not intuitive at all because it's not consistent across the site anywhere.

The upshot is that the playerbase tends to be very generous with each other, and more than willing to help out if you make a forum topic asking about something. Gotta be careful so it isn't phrased like begging, but most people will just heap stuff on you for free if you ask to buy, especially things like crafting materials that people wind up with huge stashes of that they don't use and don't care to play inventory management simulator for a few pebbles that are almost worse than worthless.

Currency has been an issue since day 1, even though as mentioned above there has been abundant good will and helpful advice from the beginning. The dev's bad decisions are what ultimately led to an initial solid player base dwindling to very few, and that's where a lot of FM problems come from. There simply aren't enough regular players to keep the economy going. It's what happens when a business is run as a passion project.
