Questions for Veterans (Newbie)

Hey guys!

I haven't been playing so long and I just adored the Goldsea event- but what do you do between major events? What are some things you do to stay interactive and to keep coming back? Do you make a bunch of food, find ways to hoard money, etc etc?

I just finished all the quests and feel a bit... lost on what to kind of do in between the bigger events. I don't have any breeding projects per se- though I love my Volmyrs and matching them to my favorite football players (but again- new and can't afford much dress up) ðŸĪ

TIA!

I do my daily activities and weekly ones for tickets, as well as stuff that gives me progress on my achievements! :) Sometimes I'll spend some time in the Campaign for hunting Wild Wolves. :)

This is a great question! LW is a game of make-your-fun imo, so I'm interested to see what others have to say. I like a lot about LW and keep myself busy.

  • I have a few pairs of wolves I breed. I sell some pups (or try!) and train/release the rest for KB.
  • KB I use for WW hunts on fun dates, or sometimes I sell a few for funds.
  • I have some female wolves I only breed to studs. It keeps things fresh and mysterious. I've gotten some surprising keepers this way!
  • Cooking a LOT. Seasonal campaign and trials uses a lot of food, so Thumbs and I stay busy in the off-season.
  • Achievement hunting. IDK, it's just fun lol. Brrrr number go up. (Also has a lot of apparel recipes attached to it -- apparel I use all the time!).
  • Speaking of apparel, I've only recently gotten into playing dress up but it's AMAZING. Many of my daily goals revolve around saving up for apparel (cooking vouchers for chef neckties!), hunting for apparel (fishing up a hydromancy!), and collecting items for crafting apparel (leaf piles!).
  • And since I've been getting into dress up, I've also been sprinkling a lot of eyeballs. A bit of risk and fun. All the rush of a besprinkler without breaking the wallet.
  • Story writing! I have a thread of LW fanfic on the forums now. I have a great time with it hahaha.
  • Community events and activities. I like playing this game and I like playing it with others even more. I've run a few events so far. I try to participate in all the wolf sharing activities that get posted. And they are great dress up inspo too.

I usually try to check in at least daily to get all my daily activities, have Nana play with all the companions, etc. and then wind up distracted and passing the night away onsite from there...

I have fun little "personal challenges" for many of the professions that keeps me mildly entertained while I'm doing more mundane chores. Lots of people have fun little quirky things they do as side-projects on Lorwolf, like collecting as many as possible of a specific trinket or something, and I think this is probably similar to that:

  • For farming, I have certain seeds that I try to keep at exactly 1k seeds in my inventory. Since I always purchase all of Marvin's seeds at the Mole Market, it creates a sort of whack-a-mole game with which seeds to plant at any given time.
  • Hunting is a puzzle all on it's own, so it doesn't take much else for me to add! I love mixing and matching and sifting through all my dens to try to get maximum success probability... it's also very easy to get distracted just admiring my wolf/companion pairs in that view 😅
  • For fishing... we don't talk about fishing.
  • For cooking, I make a ton of Cooked Shellfish, which comes from most of the fish you catch in the Open Ocean (last fishing spot). I have a similar threshold that I try to keep each type of fish at, like I do with my seeds, and end up with another whack-a-mole game. I also mix in random other things when my fish are at their target amount, or when I'm just feeling it ðŸĪ·â€â™€ïļ
  • For mining, I'm all about those gems 💎 It's a bit of a grind in the early game, but once you're around long enough you'll have all the metal bars you could ask for (especially since there are some generated by companions), so you can drop everything else and focus on gems/gold/moonstone shards... or whatever specific ore you're looking for. I find it super satisfying to go back with a full cart of one item (it takes a long time sometimes to get there), or to try to come back with a perfect amount of items to smelt so nothing is leftover at the end.
  • Crafting is primarily fun once you get up higher in level and can make lots of different apparels. For a while, one of my personal goals was to get all the crafting recipes. Now that I have them, I'm constantly trying to keep my inventory stocked of the things I use most to dress up my wolves. Also the casual bone grind (the highest tier crafting recipe lets you create bone paste in bulk and gives the best experience return, so it's great for grinding levels if you're going for achievements).

Outside of the professions, I LOVE dressing up my dogs, and I include the companions as part of the aesthetic.... and often that just leads to browsing and admiring. I scroll through my dens and other people's dens, soooo often for sooooo long just because I love how pretty my wolves are (to me, ofc 😋), and I love to see what other people are doing as well! So many people have so many different styles, or they combine colors or layer apparels in ways I never would have thought of.... I even started making themed wolfshare threads to scam everyone else into curating and delivering lists of beautiful dogs for me to admire for free!! 😂ðŸĐ·ðŸ˜œ

@spoot and I actually love just browsing so much, we actually started a fun thread to review other people's dens (linked in my signature, if you're ever interested 😉)! Once we had the idea, we got really into it and created lore and personas for our wolves to turn it into a whole process and creative outlet! We also love to hop on a discord call with each other and some of our friends who play LorWolf (and some who don't even ðŸĪŠ) and stream our screens to each other just to get twice the browsing in, and then we can admire other fun dens together, help each other out if we need supplies, suggest ideas for apparel/lore/art/etc. I've also made a handful of Custom Apparels, and I stream to that group of friends while I draw to get their feedback and have a chat while I'm working and it just makes for fun, cozy vibes ðŸĨ°

@spoot- I definitely just wanted to hear everyone's opinions and cool little niche ideas they do. I know it was about the same with some other games I played years ago- so I wanted a hot new take haha.

-I've tried breeding for my teams project- but find I never sell any puppies. Trying to save for backgrounds and decor, and looking for a few very specific wolves to fit with some girlies I'm missing. Def going to try getting more crafting recipes and saving for more dress up things... My companions fit too! Or I try to have them fit haha. I always get very excited when a wolf fits what I'm looking for, but it's definitely few and far between!
-I have a bunch of KB, but my problem is most wild wolves don't fit anything in what I like haha. I scrounge for best breeding partners every day (since there's such a variety up) or new wolves to add to stand in.
- I have been focusing heavily on cooking since I did so much exploring during the event- it's just without quests I don't know where to go explore, I guess it's more up in the air and I never know where to go XD
- I did check out the achievement tab as suggested, and think I'll try working more on those, even if I try for one a day!

I've definitely looked around and seen how pretty people decorate their wolves! It's crazy. I hope to start building up some of my favorites like that. ^-^
