I usually try to check in at least daily to get all my daily activities, have Nana play with all the companions, etc. and then wind up distracted and passing the night away onsite from there...
I have fun little "personal challenges" for many of the professions that keeps me mildly entertained while I'm doing more mundane chores. Lots of people have fun little quirky things they do as side-projects on Lorwolf, like collecting as many as possible of a specific trinket or something, and I think this is probably similar to that:
- For farming, I have certain seeds that I try to keep at exactly 1k seeds in my inventory. Since I always purchase all of Marvin's seeds at the Mole Market, it creates a sort of whack-a-mole game with which seeds to plant at any given time.
- Hunting is a puzzle all on it's own, so it doesn't take much else for me to add! I love mixing and matching and sifting through all my dens to try to get maximum success probability... it's also very easy to get distracted just admiring my wolf/companion pairs in that view ð
- For fishing... we don't talk about fishing.
- For cooking, I make a ton of Cooked Shellfish, which comes from most of the fish you catch in the Open Ocean (last fishing spot). I have a similar threshold that I try to keep each type of fish at, like I do with my seeds, and end up with another whack-a-mole game. I also mix in random other things when my fish are at their target amount, or when I'm just feeling it ðĪ·ââïļ
- For mining, I'm all about those gems ð It's a bit of a grind in the early game, but once you're around long enough you'll have all the metal bars you could ask for (especially since there are some generated by companions), so you can drop everything else and focus on gems/gold/moonstone shards... or whatever specific ore you're looking for. I find it super satisfying to go back with a full cart of one item (it takes a long time sometimes to get there), or to try to come back with a perfect amount of items to smelt so nothing is leftover at the end.
- Crafting is primarily fun once you get up higher in level and can make lots of different apparels. For a while, one of my personal goals was to get all the crafting recipes. Now that I have them, I'm constantly trying to keep my inventory stocked of the things I use most to dress up my wolves. Also the casual bone grind (the highest tier crafting recipe lets you create bone paste in bulk and gives the best experience return, so it's great for grinding levels if you're going for achievements).
Outside of the professions, I LOVE dressing up my dogs, and I include the companions as part of the aesthetic.... and often that just leads to browsing and admiring. I scroll through my dens and other people's dens, soooo often for sooooo long just because I love how pretty my wolves are (to me, ofc ð), and I love to see what other people are doing as well! So many people have so many different styles, or they combine colors or layer apparels in ways I never would have thought of.... I even started making themed wolfshare threads to scam everyone else into curating and delivering lists of beautiful dogs for me to admire for free!! ððĐ·ð
@spoot and I actually love just browsing so much, we actually started a fun thread to review other people's dens (linked in my signature, if you're ever interested ð)! Once we had the idea, we got really into it and created lore and personas for our wolves to turn it into a whole process and creative outlet! We also love to hop on a discord call with each other and some of our friends who play LorWolf (and some who don't even ðĪŠ) and stream our screens to each other just to get twice the browsing in, and then we can admire other fun dens together, help each other out if we need supplies, suggest ideas for apparel/lore/art/etc. I've also made a handful of Custom Apparels, and I stream to that group of friends while I draw to get their feedback and have a chat while I'm working and it just makes for fun, cozy vibes ðĨ°
