Welcome to LW! So glad you've joined us. A great place to start is Achievements, which you can access under your Den tab. There are a variety of starter achievements that will walk you around the site. And completing the achievements gives rewards like currency and apparel.
The giveaway forum has lots of free wolves and a food bank if you need some assistance. Food fuels your wolves in their professions and the campaign.
