Probably a series of silly CA questions...

...but I have not found answers to them as of yet, I may be looking in the wrong place. If these are covered in a sticky or guide post, please point my barely out of puppy-dom snout in the right direction!

I have 2 questions about CA - I have been super interested, but mostly for small things that would satisfy my own lore purposes, as well as how it just works overall.

  1. If I wanted CA for myself only, process is the same correct? Making sure there isnt another route due to the MS cost for a CA token.

  2. One CA submission nets 5 items - are these replenishable? I want to know this for myself as well as any items I am interested in on the market, is this a "once the initial 5 are gone, its gone" scenario?

Also - for all the awesome veteran players, your grinding skills are top notch - I look forward to the day I can have as much awesome CA for my wolves!

Hi! Your first order of CAs will be deposited directly to your inbox once it's approved, if you're keeping it private. The process is the same as offering public CAs, just be sure to reserve all 5 copies for yourself.

If you want to order more than 5 items, you can replenish them with another 100MS CA token. It's a little bit awkward if you want those copies to remain private, though. They will appear in the public CA market as a listing, and you'll have to buy those copies of your own CA with your own MS. Luckily you'll get paid back whatever MS you price your CAs. My advice would be to price your stuff in the CA market as high as possible so that other people don't grab them before you can get to them.

The other method would be to resubmit your design as a new CA so that your copies remain private, but then they have to be reviewed by the mods again.

1- When you put the CA in the shop you can choose how many copies you want to sell and how many you want to keep for yourself

2- You can restock :D

I hope this helped! and no it's not silly at all I only began to sort of understand it halfway through last year I think lol

what in the name of Orrin, Desnik beat me to it by eleven seconds lol

Yes!

1) The process is the same regardless of what you intend to do with them! During the initial submission process, you can select a number (from 1-5) to keep for yourself, and the rest will automatically go to the Custom Apparel Shop when approved. So, you can keep them all and it will never even show up in the CA Shop or you can keep a few and sell the others.

2) These are replenishable, but you have to purchase a new CAT (Custom Apparel Token) to re-stock. Re-stocks always come with 5 copies as well, but they all go directly to the shop. Luckily, you can purchase your own CAs from the shop, although it's a little bit clunky. You need to have enough MS/Pebbles to buy it, but then you receive that money back instantly. Luckily, you can adjust prices on anything currently stocked in the shop (including switching from MS pricing to Pebble pricing or vice versa), so you can always reduce the price to quickly grab your copy if you're low on funds and then adjust it back to normal once you have what you want (I would just avoid this during busier times like roll over where someone may happen to be browsing and could snag it super cheap).

A couple other notes just because I'm thinking about them:
  • You cannot adjust prices on out-of-stock items. Example: You have one left in stock, you set the price to 1 pebble and grab it for yourself. When you go to re-stock, it will have to re-stock at 1 pebble, and you will have to go adjust the price immediately when you restock (so, again, easy enough workaround but not recommended at busiest times)
  • If you plan to sell extra copies, you want to budget appropriately to keep your stock up. I have quite a few cheaper listings (25-30 MS), which means there is only 25MS - 50MS profit across a batch of 5 copies if I want to afford a re-stock. That's totally fine for me, but you just have to be aware of your remaining stock across your various CAs to know whether a random influx of MS from a sale is "profit" you can spend however or "cost coverage" that needs to be re-invested in a new CAT.
  • Expanding on the prior point, some people use pre-orders to help fund the initial CAT investment, and a lot of times they'll do a small 5-10 MS discount for pre-orders to incentivize people since it's not a guaranteed timeline of when the CA will approve. I love this as an awesome way to be able to afford to submit things sooner, but just be careful of how you price and what that will mean if you want to keep things stocked. For example, if you want something to be 25 MS in shop and you sell 5 pre-orders for 25 MS, you will 25 extra MS after you buy your CAT, but you'll have to send out all 5 copies once it approves, so you'll have 25 MS and no stock on the market to help you make it to the next CAT. Again, this is fine for my purposes, but just a warning to plan ahead accordingly 💖

Thank you! You are all so lovely - I appreciate the help. I am looking into new drawing programs for my microsoft surface so it will be a while, but I am a planner and like to know the ins and outs first.

You all rock <3

You've gotten some great responses here, so I'll just add: good luck and have fun! I've played for ages and just started getting into making my own CAs a few weeks ago. ^^ I use GIMP with a mouse, so I won't be that helpful for other stuff!
