Go to the location you want your auto-explore to be, then under the green Explore button is "Set Auto Explore." o7

Just to add to Spoot's response, there doesn't seem to be any way to shut it off. Once you turn it on the first time, all you can do is change locations. However, it doesn't use any energy, and just gives you stuff when you aren't around, so it's purely beneficial. Once you select 'set auto explore' in a different location, it takes a moment and then it's just switched to there. I'm not sure if it's even necessary to wait for it to say it's done setting it there.
