Site-opening Design Contest

Closed. Results are posted!

Welcome to Full Launch, everyone!
Are we all hyped?! Running on pure adrenaline?!?
I'd like to take this chance and begin a contest - a design contest!

How do I participate?
It's easy! You must design a pair of wolves around a theme of your choice (they do not need to match)! At least two sentences of explanation for your design(s) are required.

Please ping me on your post so I can log it. Reserving posts allowed.
When the winners are decided, I will ping all participants. If you would prefer not to be pinged, please let me know.

What can I win?
Glad you asked! There will be four winners - one Grand Prize winner, and three Lesser Prize winners!

The Grand Prize: 110 Moonstones!
The Lesser Prize: 20 Moonstones!

How are the winners decided?
I have set up a ~secret~ point system with a huge handful of criteria. The most points wins GP; the following three greatest win LP. If there are ties, a random choice will be made using a number generator.

I have a question!
Ping me in this thread or on the Discord and I will respond fast as possible! This post may be edited to add more info.

This contest will close the midnight ST between May 13th and May 14th.

@Tisquares Here is my entry! They represent the Ying and Yang, black and white, day and night, solar and lunar, it is a very interesting concept of balancing each element out in my mind, so I had to design wolves like these! The first wolf here is the Yang, which is the white side of the balance. It represents day and solar, while its counterpart, the second wolf, Yang, represents the black side of the scale, with the night and lunar elements.

@Tisquares Here is my entry~

You didn't say anything about the pair being matchy, so they are not XP

This pair represents two sides of my sexuality. The first represents demi-sexuality, while the second represents bisexuality. I have no idea what kind of babies they would make together, but they coexist very well lol! I chose the Zerda as the base because it is my favourite type of wolf on the site ^.^

i probably would have chosen purple-blue icy progens if i hadn't chosen green ones instead! i love ice that's more purple-tinted rather than cyan, and the midnight serves as a nice contrast

I picked Bracchus as its my favorite wolf and suits the spooky theme well, is based around October/Halloween cause that's my b-day month, its fun to create this theme!

(I sent on Discord, as I cannot figure out how image's work on here yet lol).

@Tisquares

Here's my entries! The theme I gave myself was butterflies! I drew inspiration from my two favorite butterflies, the monarch and the blue morpho!

The Monarch I went with a kit because monarchs usually are big. I'm a fan of juxtaposition so I went with the kit a smaller species on the site. Despite that I feel like they're one species that displays the markings best! I used stripes becuase Monarchs are stripey, but they also have those dots! Which is represented by the yellow dot on the ears! And of course the classic yellow-orange gradients that monarchs have are represented as well as the creamy white they have.

The Blue morpho I wish was real lmao. I want this wolf so bad. I sat playing with colors until I got that almost blue iridescence that morphos have and to me at least I feel like I nailed it with the stripes and then the black edging of the wings is represented here as well. I really wanted to get a lot of blues while keeping that glimmery look! I love that you can still see the stripes on the tail as though the light is hitting it and flaring off.

Thanks for hosting! This was a lot of fun!

@Tisquares

I have a love-hate relationship with the ocean so I decided to showcase it here!

The first one is based off of a specific image of a kelp forest from underwater. I tried several different sexes and breeds and decided I liked how dynamic the jocol female was with the genes I had settled on. The honeydew color on top is sunlight filtering through, with the green stripes representing the kelp and the blue the ocean itself. Kelp forests are home to so many different species, both plant and animal. They act as shelter from weather and predators and a feeding ground for those same predators. Seals and sea lions, whales, all kinds of birds, sea urchins, and even sea otters!

Speaking of: I based the second wolf off of sea otters! I just think they're Neat, minus some gross parts of ‘em. Sea otters actual help balance the massive sea urchin population of kelp forests bye eating them. A lot of California’s kelp forests have actually become what is known as “urchin barrens” because they've eaten all of the kelp and just cover the sea floor. Sea otters won't bother with eating sea urchins from these areas due to the urchins being starved and providing little nutrition. They will, however, still go after the ones in the remaining kelp forests, keeping them from also disappearing!

@Tisquares

thanks for the opportunity!

i designed a pair of wolves based on the sun and moon. the sun is more of the direct sunny look, clouds drifting over its surface, while the moon keeps the clouds but goes for a more subtle mix of the silvery-gray of the moon itself and the darkness of the night sky. their eye colours also tie into the designs - a light blue for a sunny day, and a dark twilight for a moonlit night <3

@Tisquares Alrighty, this is fun- here's an earth and sky themed duo! What's better than a matching pair? A symbolically opposite one ;) I'm really enjoying the blend/ombre style genes, so I tried to lean into them to make the fur on both wolves feel expressive, as if the colors bloom from within rather than painted on top.
