Thank you for this! I'd like to ask, how long does this usually take? I know it's random so it can vary wildly, but how long have people been grinding before people got their wolves? In total I've gotten 7 encounters so far, I'm guessing since I don't time it, but probably around 4 hours total of campaigning before reading this guide (3 from then, though a lot of that time was doing quests.) and 2 hours total after reading this guide (4)

no successful encounters as of yet but I will prevail! oh wow speak of the devil just got another encounter after writing this… failure

@SovereignFives We're not sure what the chances of encountering a wolf are, but there's a survey here you can fill in so we can try and figure that out! One full stamina bar is 20 explorations, so if you time how long it takes to use up one full stamina bar, you can calculate how long it might have taken you to encounter some. I haven't done this myself though, so I would have no idea ^^;

It also depends on which encounters you interact with and which you ignore, as that can greatly affect your speed. And some players might refresh slower to avoid accidentally missing wolves. So I don't think there's really a way to determine a usual time. I think my first wolf took me around 3-4 hours? But that was right when the site opened so I was doing other things in the meantime. Also I got another 2 wolves after that in only 1 hour or so. So yeah, it's a very wide range.

@Ocean Thank you! It's good to have some sort of idea even if it's not always consistent!

It's difficult for me to actually time it myself due to my playstyle of grinding for a bit and then doing other things on/off site, rinse, repeat, though I believe that survey is for breeding rarities not WW encounter rarities if I'm not mistaken!

As a personal lil tip, there are certain companions like the Rodill, who will give your wolf stamina when played with (the most I've seen from my rodill so far is 35.) It may help save an extra little bit of food, depending on where you decide to hunt.

@TheEnforcer I think you are right about the Black Hills. Ive spent 2 days grinding in Zanthous, and got about 30 encounters, all ran away. I just switch to black hills, and have got 2 encounters in 10 min. They both still ran away, though, haha

I sincerely appreciate that this guide was made.

I was fool-heartedly running about with my whole pack, trying to hunt for new members haha, and my food supplies are … non-existent. After reading through this I realize maybe being able to defeat the world in one or two seconds isn't quite as important as saving my resources and simply heading out with ONE wolf to find new blood xD xD

Thank you so much for this guide! This method works super well, plus it's a nice way to (slowly) grind out levels for your new wolves if you swap them in to do the exploring. I've gotten three so far :)

WOW, okay, this new update has changed a lot of things, so I've edited the guide accordingly. To anyone who's still struggling to find wolves, I hope this helps!

Sorry, I've had to throw a lot of the guide away since I no longer think Zanthous is the best place to be now that the food drops have been nerfed. But Western Barrens isn't such a bad place, you don't have to concentrate nearly as much to hunt there. <3
