I'm neutral on this suggestion honestly. I've played another pet game with breeding elements that allowed you to generate basic/no gene pets with custom colors and no restrictions on it with an item and saw how saturated the pet market there was in general with most pets, even fully gened ones bordering on unsellable, having it once a year or less is definitely an interesting idea for a site event such as the anniversary or user birthday and not something I think I'd be entirely opposed to.

Expanding on people previously mentioning the remaking custom starter suggestion: Personally I think this feature or a feature to remake your original starter wolves once a year would be great! Having both might not be a bad idea, but it would feel slightly redundant to me? I also don't like the idea of having both if you only get to choose one or the other each year, cause I feel like people will always lean towards making new ones over fixing their originals anyway (if they think they need fixing anyway).

I'm going to have to go against the grain here and say no support. I would much rather see a means to change your starters, and then single slot besprinklers.

No matter how this is done, I can only see it directly undermining other aspects of the site. If you could just make more custom wolves, why would anyone spend big on a gorgeous lucky ww catch? If you could just buy a token, why would you buy besprinklers? If you could just wait for an annual token to roll around, why would you start a difficult breeding project?

If this happens I can see things like the special ID market dominating the sales space, as the ID will be the only thing left making specific wolves uniquely valuable.

Support! I know there's worry about the pet market becoming oversaturated, but that's sort of bound to happen regardless. Pretty much all petsites will eventually struggle with having too many pets than people really want, that's why there's features to delete these pets, usually for some in-game reward.

Now to be fair, the concern regarding people chosing this feature over breeding projects is an understandable one, I think. If I were in a situation where I wanted a very specific color combo for a wolf and I had these options… yeah I would go for the token. But that's mostly because the color wheel is HUGE and I wouldn't really want to deal with any of that! That said, does this really impact anyone outside of the person who chooses the easy route? People like the challenge of breeding projects are going to do breeding projects regardless.

One personal reason I'm very much for the token is because I'm an enjoyer of commemorating special days on petsites with pets. Now I already have experience with this in FR, so I could just learn time a breeding in advance or postpone giving birth until 24 hours before, but I'm very forgetful and my local time is kind of out of wack with the site time by a large enough margin that I could end up timing a birth incorrectly. Being able to create a custom wolf just whenever would be very nice in that regard.

I'm neutral on this idea simply because people would end up with more untradable wolves in their dens, I do however regret my progen choices so if this would happen it wouldn't be a loss for me

Overall I think the idea to maybe re-do your progens with a token that you can buy 1 or 2 times a year would be better though

Sorry but I am against any additional custom wolves besides your starting 2. Even if it is once a year that still takes out the motivation and really the whole part of breeding in game. Players will just be saving for the entire year to make their dream wolf instead of breeding, trading, and moving things along with other players for that wolf. The breeding cooldown for wolves is quite short and it will not take long for the market to have the colors and such players will need to start their breeding projects. Also since these starters are breedable it will flood the market even faster especially with those desirable color combinations that tend to be very popular. Not to mention with it costing moonstones you would be looking at a pay to win from a breeding play-style point of view.

Now a limited item that will recolor your original starters, no new wolves just changing what your starters look like, could work. If it is tied to just your starter wolves and can’t be used on other wolves could be really nice. This would make a good way to help those that had to rush, fall out of love with, or messed up their starters fix/change them, but you aren’t getting the negative impact that custom wolves would play at the market.
