..yeah. I've tried everything I can think of, and I can't seem to find some sort of “remove” button? Maybe I'm just missing something, or there's no feature to remove companions, but I have no idea-

There is a little pencil button in the top right corner of the companion box where you can change or remove companions, but it will be greyed out if your play time is on cooldown since you can't switch them out during that period

Is it on cooldown? Companions on cooldown can't be removed, unfortunately. If not, click the pencil icon where you would add/change the companion and at the top there should be a button that says “Remove Companion” ^^
