Hello everyone! Welcome to my ever-growing list of worldbuilding and lore tips, questions, and prompts! These are primarily tailored to “pack” structured dens, but I will be making a section for non-traditional wolf ideas- I hope this brings you some good use! Below is the index, for your convenience :) (you can't link specific reply on LW yet so they're marked as post 1, post 2, and so on for the time being!)

Post 1: Tips for Beginners and Experienced Writers - This doesn't exclusively apply to users new to writing lore on petsites, but more of… where to start. If you're overwhelmed with ideas, or not even sure where to begin, this could be for you. And, well, experienced can mean whatever you want it to. If you've been writing for 5 years but consider yourself new still, that's fine! On/off writing is a valid form of it. You don't have to be an expert. This is just a silly little dog PNG game, after all!

Post 2: Some Basic Worldbuilding Prompts - How much of LW's canon lore does your pack adhere to? How fleshed out do you want it to be? Magic?

Post 3: The Basics of a Pack - We're all aware of the traditional (albeit proven false) “wolf pack” structure. Alphas, betas, omegas. But every pack needs a medicine wolf, and they aren't always named so straightforwardly.

Post 4: Get to Know the Pack Members - Who does what? Do they like what they do? Do they hate their work? Feel forced into it? All that kinda stuff.

So! You're new to lorwolf, maybe even petsites as a whole. You want to write about your wolves, but you aren't quite sure where to start. This is just my personal advice, it might not help you at all. No two writers are ever the same.

Experienced writers may know more of what works for them, which is my starting statement. Find what helps you. Do you want to have a template for all your wolves to follow, in terms of personality, skill, etc. or do you just want to make stuff up as you go? Neither? That's fine!

My most important tip is to enjoy what you write. If you can't find joy in your craft, that is absolutely something to find a fix for. There's always the feeling that “it'll never be good enough” for me personally, but I adore writing, it's extremely cathartic. So sometimes it doesn't have to be good enough.

ALWAYS. KEEP. BACK UPS. Lorwolf is still new, there is a good chance that, at any time, something could snap in half. For FR, I keep my lore in google docs (which I'm starting to really want to change but I've got so many there already hhh), but for LW I've got different .txt files of source code for each wolf bio + they're stored on a thread on-site, just in case. If those both go wrong, you can't blame yourself /lh
