this one isnt super serious! i just think the site would look much more active if instead of recent topics, it was both new topics and replies to existing topics. right now the "recent topics" tabs looks like a ghosttown because of how rarely a new topic is made. i imagine replies are more common and would show that the site is alive!

Agreed lol. I've had a particular problem since launch that I kind of largely ignore the forums and just look at recents? Out of laziness I suppose. This may just be a "me problem" but I feel like a lot of thread's momentum dies because I assume others are doing the same as me. I considered making a post about just removing the recent topics entirely but I felt it might be contentious, I like your solution better.

Yeah, showing recent posts is a better idea. I hope this gets implemented.

I think this is already going to get implemented! Looking at the Forum Revamp section of the Development Roadmap it says they plan to be

"restructuring the sidebar to accommodate an upgraded search bar and a dedicated area for subscribed, recent, and a user's threads."

Unless the recent will work the same as the current one
