Let's face it, the crafting menu is a little bit confusing! It tells you how many you can craft, but not how many of the finished recipe that you have! I mostly craft wheels/pickaxes based on how many I have on hand, if I'm running low and to make sure they don't break and I get stuck without any mining tools until I can craft enough bone paste (hint: there's never enough bone paste). I don't want to have to open a new inventory tab just to see how many crafted items I have. I understand we have an area for materials in the crafting menu, but why not another section of crafted items?
