Notifications disappear forever? Alas.

I was pinged in a forum thread. I didn't want to reply right away, so I figured I'll come back later, except now I have no way of accessing my old notifications. I don't remember the thread I was pinged in, nor the username of the person who pinged me. My "recent posts" history only shows my own threads, so I can't even go there to browse through and find the ping.

Is this intended?

I'd really appreciate being able to view all of my past notifications, and a way to view all of my forum posts.
