I had a referred friend join literally 2 hours before this announcement; I am kicking myself as now I will miss out on the "rewards" for that referral.

I am totally fine and understanding that referral rewards should be special for the folks doing the work in lieu of LW having to pay for advertising to support the game, however, it's disappointing that there is no retroactive way to reward past referrals. Usually this type of incentive happens at launch, not months after launch.

Very excited about the vault, but absolutely not a fan of account-bound referral only companions. Not gonna echo all the reasons why it's a bad idea, enough people did that.

This, together with literally everything relevant costing moonstones, sadly paints a picture of greed I'm very unhappy with. It makes me feel like I'm seen as little more than a wallet... ideally a wallet that lures other wallets onto this site.

Thank you LW team for the update!

I look forward to achievements, the archeology profession and an inventory vault.

The pup predictor will be useful, but I’m a bit confused on how it works, and why every wolf I preview in the demo is automatically saved. Maybe some improvements could be made in a future update.

I’m not a fan of exclusive referral rewards as a concept, and would prefer to see referral rewards be moonstones/shards, or something else non-exclusive.

However, I'm not all that keen on the referral rewards. I feel that it encourages multiaccounts and spam. I can see the other communities getting fed-up with the pushiness fast

There are many sites with similar game play to Lorwolf that have forums where you can share referral links. You can also put the link in your discord bio for others to click. My go to is using my signature (within site ToS) to advertise a referral link.

There are many work-a-rounds, and i'm sure as a community we'll even figure out a way to advertise referral links. the final fantasy 14 community has done it, so i'm sure we can do it too!

There’s something to be said about rolling out a referral system only after most people have already referred the folks they know, and then not having at least one or two retroactive referral options per account. This is so silly.

Your website is built on referrals. We have all already referred the people we think will enjoy this game. I was referred, I have multiple people I’ve already referred, etc.

I will be honest that this doesn’t fully sit right with me, and it doesn’t seem that I’m alone.

I hope you guys will at least reconsider adding some kind of retroactive referral system. Otherwise you’re about to be inundated with a bunch of ghost accounts, or people just plain cheating by having multiple accounts.

I've been popping in every few days, looking for an update or even an acknowledgement of talks surrounding this decision and the userbase response, but find nothing.

Hope you enjoyed the money you got out of me, because I will be leaving until something changes. This is unacceptable in my eyes, and is something I always avoid. There's a reason I'm barely active on wolvden/lioden, but I still login to PCE and FR constantly. Guess Lorwolf won't be a part of that, anymore.

In the days after this update I've decided to sell my stuff and quit LW, because the spam of "please refer me!" in the forums and on other sites is something I cannot support. There have been no updates to or even acknowledgement of the site's economy and the heavy reliance on moonstones. Pebbles are useless. There is no incentive to get rid of the wolves piling up, and they are all becoming more and more worthless. Rewards from the game are pitifully low for the amount of time you're expected to put into it. These problems are only going to get worse if they are not addressed. As someone mentioned earlier, Lorwolf feels motivated by greed. While quick band-aids were applied to bad decisions that really only threatened the site's active playerbase count, like the knucklebone and referral fiascos, broader (and necessary) changes that would affect the moonstone / monetary side of the site have been completely silent.

I hope that future updates will fix these issues, as I do not want this site to fail, but I'd prefer to just watch from the sidelines at this point.

I have to agree with what everyone else has been saying.

I used to be very active during the open beta and early days of the launch. Now I only occasionally come around to see if any changes for the better are being made, only to my dismay see things plummet even further down. I thought that this would finally be another game I could have alongside Flight Rising and Wolvden that was showing promise to be just as good. I am not a fan of comparing, and I don't think I have to, the problems with currency and focus are quite obvious aren't they.

You (devs) may think that we're just whining and want things for free, but you have to realize that this is a game and people come here to relax, not to grind and get frustrated. Businesses most often don't make profit until at least a year has passed, and if you keep pushing for it despite not giving people any actual incentive to give you their money it's only going to be for the worse. We understand that you're a company and you need to make money to support your employees and the site, but maybe you should think about why people are hesitant to throw money at you. Happy customers are willing to pay customers. You don't have enough players to be picky and greedy, and players are losing patience. There are very few pet sites that see the success that Flight Rising and Lioden/Wolvden do, but look at how they handle their sites. There's a reason why people love them. Put your focus where it should be, listen to your customers (the players). Before it's really too late.
