Tactics and numbers are not my forte, so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me figure out which companions to pair with my two lead wolves for the purpose of campaign combat? I want to replace the wolves in my party with companions so I don't go through food quite as quickly 😅 But with my current pairings I keep getting steamrolled.

The companions I've collected so far are the Brown Moorbear, River Kapura, Tawny Rodill, Furlog Deer, and Magic Monstropod.

If it matters my two lead wolves are Pearleye and Stoneye

@Boodle - where are you campaigning and what levels are your wolves and companions at?

With 1 Level 5+ wolf and 1 Level 5+ companion you can campaign in the Black Hills (Icerun 2nd Sword area) easily to level wolves or grind for bones or other drops - the owls are basically glass cannons. You can beat them with a half-leveled pair.

However if you're campaigning in a boss (4th area) zone you will need a lot more than that.

So how much have you leveled and where are you battling?

If I'm going into Icerun 4 to pound on Simburs for a while, I use 2 Kits + a Jocol paired with a Lunaria and a Canictonis (all at L10). You need the poison to knock out the Simbur. Put the Jocol in the back row for healing.

My Gauntlet team is also really good for taking into Campaign and so far they have beat every boss:

2 Kit + 1 Jocol + a Varani + an Abyssal Thrasher (again, keep the Jocol in 2nd row for healing)

Both my wolves are level 10, a Lupin and a kit. I campaign through all the areas but mostly levels 2 and 3 of whichever area catches my fancy.

@Boodle Lupins unfortunately are not the best for Campaign (or Gauntlet, but they are great for Hunting, Mining, Fishing etc). Kit and Jocol will be your best bet for Campaign and Gauntlet, so get them out there working hard :) Lupins are kind of a glass cannon as well. Even they can beat the Icerun owls though :)

Wait wait wait. Different wolves are better for different professions?? Well that's new to me lol! Which breeds are better for which professions?
