@Rosettekdk when you list a wolf for stud service, it automatically is put into the cooldown phase. So as soon as you make the decision to list that wolf, you are committing to losing its breeding abilities for the whole period.
For a breed like Volmyr with long cooldown period that is greater than the 7 days allowed for a FM listing, that's a big risk: if no one buys the stud, you've lost your own chance to breed them when the clock is ticking down on Day 7. If no one else buys the wolf's stud service then at least you still have the option to use it yourself and not take a total loss.
For starter breeds with shorter cooldown the duration of that loss is shorter, but that doesn't mean it's any more appealing for a stud owner to face delays in being able to breed their own wolf themselves. For Volmyrs, not having the option to recoup the breeding yourself would make stud service really unappealing or could drive prices higher as players became a lot more hesitant to offer studs to others.
Even for common breeds, removing the ability to buy your own stud listing would lead some people to refuse to list any of their studs at all or only list the less nice looking ones. This early in the game, when the 5-generations of relatedness inbreeding limitation is still having a measurable effect on players gameplay, that would be unfortunate. Having access to outside studs is a key mechanic right now and attaching a penalty of "you can't breed your own wolf at all if you list it for stud" would negatively impact that.
