There are a few tricks to help with earning the pebbles you need for den expansion, I'm sure people would love to help you learn how the site works.
One of my favorite tips is that once you get a basidio companion and any 2 of the 1-hour cooldown pebble-giving companions (like the monstropod, furmus, kapura, etc) and level them to 10, you can use them to play with nana and not lose money doing so. You won't be making a ton of money this way either, but the goal is just to get where you can auto-play with nana and not lose money.
From here, you can passively level wolves you don't want to level 10 over a few days to a week or so depending on how often you are on to play with nana. It's not the absolute fastest way to level, but it doesn't require you to have a ton of food to grind the campaign with these guys, so it's great for players who aren't drowning in resources (or who just don't see a need to use them frivolously) and newer players that still need their own wolves leveled as well.
The wolves you don't want on your permanent max-level roster, you can release for a knucklebone token. Only level 10 wolves will get you one of those (+10,000 pebbles), the rest will only get you 1000 pebbles per level. So that said, there is the second tip-- any wolf can be released at birth for 1000 pebbles, so try not to list any for less than that on the flea market if you don't want them instantly released by someone to grab that tiny amount of profit. Leveling and releasing batches of wolves will help you save up pebbles in the long run as well.
