I'm also kind of new! Some of the things I wish I knew sooner:
- you have to manually check on your achievements under the Den menu. You can get a lot of currency on your first few days just tooling around and doing stuff for achievements - once you get 10 moonstones it's not a bad idea to take one of the 1 million pebbles trades in the flea market (in my opinion anyway), being able to add a whole bunch of den slots was really helpful to let me actually pair wolves and have room for puppies and be able to buy some apparel etc - you don't get notifications on things like hunting trips or crafting completing, you have to go manually check them every so often
The interface can be kind of funky to get used to but there's a lot of stuff to do (once you stop running out of food all the time getting started)
