2025 Trick-or-Treat [DONE - see you next year!]

Hello all! Welcome to Trick-or-Treat Greeter Sign-Ups! The Halloween Holiday is almost upon us, and many people may know that in the United States in particular, this is an opportunity for people to dress up and go door-to-door, asking for tricks or treats. I wanted to bring that excitement to Lorwolf as well!

~~Sign-ups to be a greeter are from October 22nd - October 28th. Greeters should use this time to work on their greeter post!~~
DONE
The Trick-or-Treat thread will be posted on October 29th. Greeters will have the day to claim a post with their greeter wolf!
Trick-or-Treat opens for treaters from October 30th~~-31st~~ November 2nd!

This Trick-or-Treat will be done over the forums.

Once the Trick-or-Treat thread is open to treaters, they should peruse the various greeter dens for who they would like to go to first! Treaters will ping the user whose den they wish to visit. In their post, they should include their treater wolf with a roleplay message, ideally referencing the greeter dens, as greeters have worked hard to spruce up their entrances.

After a treater has posted, please be patient and wait for your treat— or trick!— before moving on to the next den. You cannot delete forum posts, so please be courteous and purposeful when posting.

Treaters should only go to each greeter once.

As a greeter, you should respond back to the treater with in the forums, and then send over their treat or potential trick over messages!

You can be both a treater and a greeter if you would like!

Ping an individual with an open den in this thread with your treater wolf and a roleplay message. Your message should ideally be tailored to their den, as our greeters have worked very hard to put together a festive entrance for you to stumble upon.

Please wait for your treat or trick before moving on to the next den. You should only go to each den once.

If you would like to drop a compliment to any of the greeters, please feel free to post in this discussion thread, as this forum is intended just for Trick-or-Treating!

As the sun sets and you approach a den in Goldsea, there seems to be nothing but darkness at first. The only light coming from several jack-o-lanterns and a couple lamps on either side. But before you can move on, something emerges from the shadows. A pair of yellow glowing eyes appear along with some dancing golden flames. The figure looms over you, staring as it looks you up and down. Is it a spirit? Is it a consumed?! But as the creature speaks in a deep tone, it's clear that this is in fact a wolf.

"You are brave to approach my lair, young wolf. Come closer if you dare, if you are not too scared. You may be rewarded with a treat, something good to eat. My companion will judge if you're worthy. If you are not, you will need to hurry. His lack of grace may land on your face."

He then disappears into the shadows once more. Spooky! But the wolf is then replaced by another set of glowing eyes that looks at you expectantly. From none other than a little Enderling.

"Ohh yoo-hoo~!" calls Eeries as he notices your approach. The grinning Kit draws your attention to the rough-dug den behind him. The atmosphere is dark and spooky and the air is alive with swarming, squeaking bats. The clearing is decorated with pumpkins and friendly companions are lounging around. Candles flicker faintly at the mouth of the den, barely protected from the Halloween drizzle.

"Run up and blow out a candle for your trick-or-treat," he explains playfully, tail wagging. "...If you dare!"

A Spookitty in a green bowtie eagerly guides you towards the den. Glowing red eyes peer out at you.

"Mmm-hm-mmm-- oh! Welcome, treater!" Stormy greets you warmly, pausing in the middle of the Spookitty decorating chaos around her. There are bins of treats and boxes of tricks and... pumpkins... stacked to the roof of the cavernous den.

"You've caught us while we're still setting up!" says the Jocol with a michevious grin. "Well, no worries -- we certainly have something for you! You know what to say!"

The Spookitties and companions stop rustling through their various bins and boxes to look at you with equally mischievous expressions.

The lands of the Guiding Star Pack are well-removed and yet surprisingly active. Wolves go from place to place, chatting with the wolves who had set the whole thing up- a surprising number of whom had small stalls lining the main... plaza, of sorts.

You'd already stopped by one of the stalls, a quant little thing run by a Volmyr and Zerda, who were actually romantic partners- and made quite the pair!

Whether you'd let one of the Guiding Star Pack wolves that wanted to leave their pack come along with you or bought one of the interesting pieces of apparel the two were selling, they'd pointed you towards this stage and told you that you should probably go there, for their daughter was performing... something there.

They weren't too clear on the details. You wonder if that was on purpose, before a small Zerda (by Zerda standards) in an elegant masquerade outfit steps out from the curtains and bows.

Well, here's the daughter, you suppose, before wondering just what she'll be doing.

The Zerda begins a tale, speaking grandly- as is befitting of a storyteller.

"Gather 'round, gather 'round…

"For we have a story to tell.

"Many wolves know the tale of the Spiritwolves, but only a few have heard the tale of the Spirits!

"And, no, they are not the same thing.

"Anyways, in the time of the Spiritwolves, five Great Spirits took form from belief in certain things.

"In life and light and darkness and the seas and the storms.

"These Great Spirits would take wolf shape and roam the land, talking with us Lorwolves and sharing tales.

"Sometimes they helped, sometimes they hindered and attacked.

"But one spirit, the first, the Great Spirit of Life itself, found his way into Chaos’s grasp…

"The other Spirits rallied against him, eventually sealing him away in the same lake as Korvo.

"Upon doing this, they fled and left, hiding away from us, and the lesser Spirits that had come from the same belief- but in something far less than the Great Spirits'- followed their example.

"There was just one slight issue.

"The seal was incomplete.

"And with that and much time, Life freed himself.

"It is said that tonight, he roams the land, searching for innocent wolves.

"To eat you would be the much more simple answer, but it is not true.

"For he seeks souls.

"Our souls, to free Korvo and reign Chaos upon the land.

"So far, he has never succeeded.

"But only because of a genius plan wolves long ago came up with.

"We would dress ourselves in costumes and he would never know it was us!

"And it, so far, has worked."

That, as you know, is most likely tempting fate, and this turns out to be true when gleaming green eyes, much fiercer than any Consumed you have seen, appear behind the Zerda (... you'd forgot her name).

"Oh! Oh no! He’s here! He heard us!" You can see that.

"RUN!"

Do you do so, or do you stay?

For my stuff, I'll let you choose a wolf from my Stock & Unwanted Wolves or Giveaway Wolves dens, OR you may pick a piece of any Darkspine seasonal apparel (minus a set of the limited 2024 items) that I will give to you! Know it's meant to be a surprise, but I don't want to give you something you'll end up hating.

Although, as a note on the wolves: any pups in either of the dens are off-limits right now.

Nightveil Hollow: Home of Elisandra le Fay

You crest the hill and finally reach Nightveil Hollow at the end of the cul-de-sac. It stands proud in the clearing lit up by a smattering of jack-o'-lanterns, meandering fireflies, and twinkling stars. With a creak of its rusted hinges, the door to Nightveil Hollow opens, and Elisandra le Fay peers out!

"Who dares disturb this most wicked of witches! Oh, trick-or-treaters! This will be fun."

She closes the door behind her and gingerly steps out.

"The game is simple, my deviously costumed friends. Hidden within the various pumpkins decorating my humble abode are a bounty of treats. The problem is I just so happened to mix these treat-filled gourds with a batch of cursed pumpkins, and I can't, for Mika's sake, remember which is which!"

"So if you dare, choose a pumpkin from my collection and discover if it is filled with trick or treats hehehe!"

Boo! Haha! Did I scare you?

I amassed quite a collection of pumpkin carvings this month, so it's been fun hiding behind them to give the Trick-or-Treaters a scare. My whole pack actually has been carving pumpkins this month. We got a little carried away and may have summoned a Jack-o-lantern spirit... Don't talk to the face on my side. We don't know if it's friendly yet.

And...Prince Dior! What on earth are you doing here? Ugh, I can't worry about that right now. Just don't burn your fur off before I get you home.

Aaanyway, I have a treat in this bucket for you if you manage to snag a candle from ol' Jack here! He's the big melty one. No, that's a happy smile, promise. We don't torture our pumpkins here, though I can't speak for the pack that brought him to me...

Dressed in his superhero costume, Monty wanders the sands of Goldsea in search of treats... He approaches a den just as the sun is setting and greets Xanthus with a polite nod as the Lupin explains what's coming. Monty still jumps in surprise when the Enderling appears, but he quickly gives his most excited doggy grin and shouts:

"TRICK-OR-TREAT!!"

He throws back his head into a howl for a long moment, then sits expectantly before the enderling. There's no way he'd have to run... right?
