Whoops, hello two days later. I locked in on those wings and forgot about writing. D:
Mystic
Cotton Candy Crystalite
Mystic was always considered a strange wolf. Her passion for colorful things had led her to graffiti many unsuspecting resident’s homes. Icerun’s cold, white snowy landscape was not as colorful as she saw it in her soul’s eye. So Mystic sought something beautiful to bring to her homeland. To enliven the quiet peace around her.
Flowers. She discovered them while on a trip near the Darkspine border with Icerun. While the forest around them was green and brown, they accentuated the space and filled her with joy. She carefully plucked some to bring back home with her. She was disappointed when the other wolves in her village did not seem to find the same joy she did at their beauty.
The next morning, Mystic was devastated to find her new flowers full and shriveled. Instead of succumbing to the despair of these plants not thriving in her native home, she resolved to find a way for them to live here. That is when she sought out a witch that was rumored to live in an icy cave far north. She collected her belongings and said goodbye to her home. She strangely did not feel as sad as she once believed.
Mystic’s journey took her many weeks. There were many stops along the way that led her to befriending other wolves that shared her passion for bringing color to their icy home. Several of these wolves ended up journeying with her to see the witch. Finally, they came upon a village that shocked them. There were flowers in all the colors of the rainbow adorning the huts and pathways of this magical place. It was unlike anything Mystic and her friends had ever seen. Wolves in all colors mingled around the bonfires that flickered with pink and blue flames.
“Welcome to our humble home. What brings wanderers this far north?”
A wolf approached the group. Friendly, but with a wary glint in their eye.
“We are a group of wolves looking to bring color to our own icy home. We had heard there was a witch nearby who wielded magik that could preserve the flowers found in warmer packs.”
Mystic held her head high and leveled her gaze with the one that approached them. She could tell her friends around her had bowed their heads and flattened their ears. She supposed she was the leader of them now.
“Ah, well, you have been misled. We do not preserve flowers here. We create them.”
The wolf began howling a tune that was sharp like the cold of snow and accentuated by notes that seemed livelier. Slowly other wolves from the village joined her song, and it resonated throughout Mystic's body. She was entranced by the sound, so she did not notice the vines creeping up around her legs at first. However, the tightening she began to feel snapped her to awareness. She jumped to the side and managed to dislodge the creeping vines.
“Your feet!” She called out to her friends, but she could see it was no use. The vines were firmly wrapped around each of their legs now. She spun to face the witches.
“Let them go!” A menacing growl escaped her throat.
“We do not trust outsiders so readily. You will have to prove you are worthy of being accepted.” The lead witch stepped forward and presented an empty vial.
“You must go to Mistvale and retrieve a sample from Korvo’s lake if you wish to earn our trust and teachings.”
“Mistvale? But no wolf goes there! It’s cursed!”
“If you want impossible power, you must do impossible things. Your friends will be safe here, but prisoners. We wish you luck.”
Before she could say anything, snow flurried up all around her. She was blinded momentarily, and when the snow cleared, the village, and her friends, had all gone. She looked down at the vial she had clutched in her paw and thought about the journey she would need to make now. But first, she would need to find some place warm to plan her next move.
Author's Notes:
This is intended to be a launching point for the rest of her lore. There is much more story to be told here, and I admit I got a bit too ambitious. I can tell you were I envision this story leading as well if you wish. Or let you draw your own conclusions.
