weird campaign explores ??

so i was doing the goldsea campaign and i'm on the gecko one, but literally, no joke. EVERY TIME i get the gecko encounter, it says, "oh noes the geckos SAW you" DUDE THEY'RE IN THE NEST WHAT 😭

and then i got two ww encounters in like, 20 encounters. while i got the gecko one at least like 7 times and i haven't caught a single one.

is it me having insane bad/good luck at the same time

Yes, it's just bad luck. I finished this quest a couple of days ago and had like, 20 failed gecko encounters, or even more, in a row.

The gecko quest is kinda notoriously grindy that way, not sure why or if it's even intended? There's another one that gets pretty old in the icerun campaign, I think it's the one collecting bird eggs, but I also vaguely remember hearing that one might have gotten a tweak to be easier? There might be one of these campaign time-extenders in every area, I don't remember after this long since I've done 'em, hahaha.

Good luck, you aren't losing out to a nutty-bad rng streak, those particular quests are just Like This.

The geckos kept seeing and escaping my trap too, but eventually I got it!!! It seems to have a high fail rate but just keep putting out those traps and you'll catch em eventually :)

I will say I got really excited thinking I'd get the gecko apparel item after finishing that quest but nope, still gotta buy it from Mole Market or Flea Market lol

edit: I'm on the next quest "How The Mite-y Have Fallen" and this one take a while also to find the nest just a head's up lol

this one is rough but that one where you need to find two mysterious notes in the first area of darkspine have the worst get rate due to only being 2 I swear

edits this a whole day later because I just started doing "right from the gecko" again and see that it is also 2 required, I just didn't notice since the note one was what got me bad rng to make me investigate

the one in the icerun campaign is the one where you have to get the bags of cookies. it's why I also got used to just exploring until I run out of explores each time and then completing the quest. I can mass complete quests one after another for large XP boosts on ng+. for murkwood, it's the one where you fight vip and cathry, cuz it's so easy to just keep beating up vip instead of cathry cuz vip's the first option and it puts a whole lotta encounters before the quest encounter so you got used to just pressing explore.
