Black Overlay Bug's Back

I think I faintly remember hearing this was fixed at some point, and indeed it hadn't bothered me for a while-- past 2 weeks it's been back though, especially on the mining page. Vaguely opaque black overlay shows up after performing some kind of mining action (picking up smelted ores, dropping the ever present silver ore, had it happen once when equipping a wheel or pickaxe) that prevents interacting with the page until you refresh it. Alas.

It's also happened with hunting, after sending out a hunt specifically. Hasn't happened so far* with cooking (to me), and I have no idea if it happens with farming as I've been neglecting that part of the site.

I've only noticed it when removing companions, I thought it was just my pc since wolf images never load unless and undo redo the page then sometimes it works.. But yea idk

oh yeah, it happens to me. and a lot more than there. occasionally, it happens after I: buy something from the mole market; claim the free thing Marvin gives me; change a companion; play with a companion; hire nana; hire Koda; claim koda's catch; hire thumbs; and the mining thing as well.

Oh no this bug has been around for years; it hasn't ever gone away.

I do know the culprit though, and probably why it seems to have "shown up again" for people. It happens when you touch a text box. Type a forum post, edit a wolf bio or a profile, or even just entering the messages page (I assume this counts guild chats, which is probably why people are noticing it more!) will make it so the overlay will happen next time you incite/do an action with a popup if you hadn't refreshed somewhere in between.

@Stellori Fascinating & good info, I thought I remembered a recent JJ post / patch notes talking about it being fixed, but maybe not! I could have just been getting lucky and not experiencing it these past several weeks and now my good rng is gone, lol.

It's definitely happening to me sometimes without interacting with anything textbox related at all, as it happens even when I'm just doing a drive-by during lunch when I don't have time to do anything with text inputs; ie just have time to play with Nana & check on my cooking or mining before I leave again (of those, so far only mining has messed up for me, but also good to know it's happening to other people interacting with other areas of the site too). But you're right that it's probably being noticed more often again because of the guilds and new chat features n things! What a weird little bug, I'm glad we know 99% of why it happens though!
