So, let's add some more fresh ideas for Demo QoL together as a playerbase. It feels like time to refresh some more of the QoL threads and see where the playerbase is now in terms of what they still feel is missing, now that we're a few years into this thing. Not sure if it's a lot of code debt that has slowed improvements to existing features vs trying to launch new ones or if something else is going on, since comms are still pretty dead in the water. All we can do is try to help by offering our own collective gamedev experience here, lol. :P
I'll start with a couple improvements for the breeding checks;
1. When 2 wolves can't breed, let us see which wolf is shared between them, and how far back in the 5-generation limit they exist. This tells us whether or not it might be worth it to buy a wolf off the FM anyway, even if it can't immediately breed with another dog we own. If the lines can cross in just 1 more generation or 2, it can be worth picking them up if the breeding project is multi-lineal (as they often are). This can, of course, be done manually, but the QoL gain would be fantastic for the playerbase.
2. Fix the problem of swapping a wolf's sex in the demo making breeding compatibility checks break. If we have the wolf's ID saved, there is no reason why an inbreeding check cannot be performed regardless-- their bloodlines don't magically change when their sex is swapped. This limit exists because of the way it's coded on the backend, where changing anything about a wolf breaks its ties to its ID number, but it doesn't have to stay that way for everything. This has historically caused so much strife with new players, who don't understand why it just doesn't intuitively work that way to begin with. There's no warnings that it won't work if you change anything about a wolf, so I & others have found ourselves having to explain this disappointment (and the workaround of hoping a particular wolf has an opposite sex sibling) over and over.
Feel free to add your own wants & desires to the list, maybe consolidating some things will help get the attention of the "powers that be".
