The referral companions are super cute but I literally have 0 friends irl or online and dont have social media so its impossible for me to ever even see 1 of them let alone the ones you cant get till 3 referrals

I'm not to fond of the fact that the new companions are referral exclusive. I only have one person in my life who *might* be interested in a petsite game, and the chances that she'd reach 50 total companion levels are quite low. Referring five people is literally impossible for me

I want to echo what pretty much everyone has already said -- but especially Hippotan's post at the bottom of page 2. I joined this site via a friend's recruitment, and I've recruited 3 users myself (though all three quit within a week), and to get any more referrals at this point for me is unrealistic, or would potentially stray too close to multiaccount funneling (e.g. paying people to join and get to companion bond 50).

This is going to hurt LW's name in the pet community because people will absolutely be annoying and spammy with it. I really hope you strongly reconsider this, but if not... Guess that would make it time to sell everything for other site stuff again and go back elsewhere. Been kinda losing interest anyway, so trying to completely my Companion collection was much of what's left, and this has effectively killed that.

Well if my friends were gonna play Lorwolf they would by now. Suppose the moonwater is nice if you have the time and inclination to campaign a lot

The new companions being soulbound and therefore referral-only feels a bit short-sighted. If players could sell them for in-game currency then people who can refer others but aren't interested in the companions would feel more incentivised to do so. Some people just aren't ever going to refer anyone even if they want the companions so I don't think it would really affect how many new people get brought on.

Since these familiars require a couple weeks to a month of casual gameplay each to acquire, they are probably the hardest thing in the game to get (Except KS stuff), so it's not like people would be trading them cheaply.

Also, it's not super clear if the person joining/referred also gets the companion or not? The wording around that explanation is a bit strange.

Just wanna second the posts re:referral companions. This is a plain bad idea, period. Encourages boting, multi-accounting, spamming referral on sm and other pet sims. Especially for your existing user base.

Wanting to expand your reach might be a necessity but don’t forget to encourage your existing users to stay.

How about just handing out some water? Maybe moonstone (shards) in small amounts? Maybe even some apparel or something. Nothing exclusive, nothing with direct gameplay involvement. But not companions, which are encouraged to be collected and have an influence in the PvE element with their synergies. It just introduces an unfair advantage since they‘re not really optainable for a lot of users now.

Just… Every time there’s an update it feels like we’re making a little step forward, and a bigger one back.

The puppy predictor? Neat! Absolutely a QOL improvement and people have been asking for it for a while now. But the referral stuff kind of dims the joy here ngl.

I sincerely hope the referral companions will not remain exclusive to referrals, for the reasons that have already been listed. most people have no one to refer. make them available through other means, please.
