I imagine any area where you can find wild wolves. From experience, though, I've had them drop a few times in Blackwater Pines.

we usually say just "knucklebones" instead of "knucklebone tokens" now, and as such, KB instead of kbt. but yes, any areas with the Wild Wolf encounter can drop knucklebones in auto-explore at the same rate normal manual exploring does. which is not often. so all sword areas, and no den areas

That's pretty average. It's a rare encounter. Even rarer to bring one home.

For me 20-30 is lucky not average. I can easily use up all my charges and find nothing. (It's why I asked this question to begin with.)

Edit: Sorry if I sound bitter. I'm a little cranky. I need some coffee.

@bananaoolala

Can you explain what you mean by this? Like what counts as 1 "explore"?

I just checked my achievements and I've had:

  • Complete scenarios while exploring in campaign: 1238
  • Explore with a party of 2 or less: 1022
  • Explore in Campaign with a party full of wolves: 803
  • Explore with a party that has 2 companions in Campaign: 558

So that = 2,383 explores. And 1,238 scenarios within those explores.....

But I have encountered only FOUR wild wolves... so if I was encountering them as often as you:

  • would that mean I should've seen 79 by now? (2,383/30 = ~79)
  • or even just going by number of scenarios (not exploration), I should've seen 41 by now? (1,238/30 = ~41)

I'm just confused because I know the percentage to befriend them is very very low (like 5%) and to even befriend them obviously I have to encounter them lol. So just wondering if I'm wrongly reading what you wrote about how often you find them exploring like maybe it's per exploring "session" or something idk

@bitterbuffalo

i think one explore is when you reach a scenario. like let's say you get "encounter: wild wolf" (idk that's all i'm thinkin of rn-)
when you finish the interaction, like the wag tail and then receiving a token, and then getting a different encounter, like the battle: furmus or whatever counts as one explore

also the 20-30 thing was tentative, i usually just find a ww every 200-ish stamina? since each explore costs 5, i think maybe a closer estimate is 25-40 ^^

Okay based off another achievement stat:

Stamina spent exploring in Campaign: 12795
  • I divided this by 5 to reflect stamina per wolf so let's say I've used 2,559 stamina (12,795/5 = 2,559)
  • That number is not accounting for the 1,022 explores I have done with just 1 or 2 wolves though, so I am rounding up to 2,800
  • (Hope that makes sense, because if just 2 wolves explore it'd be 10ish stamina per explore versus 25 stamina per explore for a full team)

So 1 wild wolf encounter per 200 stamina spent would mean I should have encountered 14 WW by now (2,800/200 = 14)

I know your numbers are just estimations, and thank you for sharing them!!! I don't want to seem like idk I'm mad or anything lol -- I just do a lot better visualizing information and thinking "aloud" (aka writing my thought process down although it's weird how when I speak to someone about something I tend to figure out a lot of stuff just by saying what I'm thinking to them... like verbalizing my thoughts to someone else just to have to understand them myself. Pretty sure it's an ADHD trait ;-;)

Just curious about this stuff (but I know it's all up to the RNG gods anyways lol). Thank you again!!! :)

annnnyways imma shut up now 😅
