As the air gets ever colder, the wolves of Loria make their way towards Icerun in anticipation of a surge of Consumed creatures that emerge from the mountain range through the Chillwind Pass, causing havoc amongst the populace come January. In the days before this surge of Consumed, the Frozen Strand becomes positively overrun with packs of wolves that have come to the aid of those who make their homes in Icerun. While the battle ahead may be fraught with difficulties, there is a sense of celebration today, as all who have come to lend a helping paw to their brethren in the cold take the time to cheers to the fight ahead and rally themselves for the arduous journey to the Chillwind Pass.

While many wolves may have traveled solely to add another set of teeth and claws to the fight, there are plenty of others who are here for the glory of battle and the promise of a crowd that will witness their prowess and tell their tale throughout the lands. Even worse, some have come to settle rivalries and stalemates, utilizing the pitched battlefield as a cover for their own nefarious plans. After the worst has passed and the fallen are laid to rest, rumors of what may have caused certain wolves to collapse swirl as fiercely as the snow-- and the truth is often buried beneath it as well.

As such, it is vital that all wolves get to know one another, to ensure that one can be trusted to watch another's back and sink their teeth into the hide of a Consumed Lapistrix rather than the furry behind of their fellow dog.

"So what say you, traveler?" the wolf in front of you asks. "Will you join us on our trek towards the Chillwind Pass, and stand beside us to fight against the Consumed?"

Overview

• This event will run until January 1st, when Icerun begins!
• Each day, a new prompt will be posted at rollover that you will need to answer. There may also be a task associated with the prompt, so be sure to read carefully.
• Each initial answer to the prompt / completion of a task will earn you one entry into the Icerun raffle. This means you can have a total of three entries by the end of this event.

"My name is Eryn," the wolf before you says, "and I am here as part of an envoy from the Grove of Life. We have journeyed from the Murkwood den, and my paws are sore and frozen from the trek." He lifts up one of his front paws to shake it out in a rueful manner before turning to walk towards the blazing fire behind him, where a handful of other wolves are sitting, of all colors and combinations. "Come, join us around the fire. Our journey to Chillwind Pass will be plenty cold, and we ought to soak up any warmth we can find.

"Tell me, what is your name and where are you from? Have you brought any wolf or companion with you?"

Today's Task:

Post your wolf (and their companion, if applicable) below with a brief introduction! It can be in-character, or out. Write as much or as little as you wish-- the sky is the limit!

A pair of wing beats are heard, then a chalky Volymyr and a phoenix descend a few feet away, then approach.

"The Guide has asked me, as currently the only Volmyr, to 'dive-bomb those Orrin-darned consumed and knock some sense into your phoenix before I choose violence again.' Her words, not mine." He then bowed.

"I am Chalk, the aerial attacker for the Silent Guides. Here to assist."

Silently, Spire approaches the gathering. He is alone and dusted with snow, and his eyes are watchful.

"Greetings from the Ardaxian pack. We are sending several strong fighters, but..." He pauses, swishing his tail around himself and over his cold toes. "The miracle of life has held things up somewhat. We've been blessed with two litters, back to back - in the middle of a blizzard no less," he explains, a small smile on his usually austere face. "They will be along shortly, once the den has been sufficiently secured."

Sauntering up towards the gathering comes Boa, quite underdressed for the cold -- perhaps his fur is enough, thick as it is. Perhaps he simply enjoys the hard bite of the cold.

He seems quite jovial and easygoing for someone joining up for such a grim purpose. To some his demeanor comes across as a much needed lightness in a darkening hour; to others, he just appears cocky and irreverent. He doesn't seem to care very much about how he comes across, and is content to chat up anyone unbothered enough to lend him their ear.

Jelly the Kit and her companion Coco the Lunaria approach the fire wearily. It was a long journey from Murkwood and they ran into plenty of trouble on the way. Her brother, Pop, stayed behind on the edge of Goldsea to assist their trainee recovering from an injury suffered on the trip. Jelly cozies up next to the fire and Coco quickly makes a bed on her tail fluff. The Kit looks thankfully to Eryn: "Thank you for the safe place to rest. My brother and the whelp we're training should be here soon."

A proud bracchus appears over the ridges, bouncing slightly on her paws. She’s wearing some golden armor, although not a lot, and the edges of her golden sword seem especially sharp. Using a golden-banded paw to make sure her odd cloak was secured in place and her odd horn safely at her side, she yips a greeting.

“Hello, hello! I am North Star, the Herald of Polaris… although, mind you, he isn’t coming. They found something else to do and practically disappeared off my radar… Anyways, me and Polaris technically belong to the Guiding Star Pack, but it’s mostly just because we live in the same area as them.”

She notices the Brother Perth following her and heaves out the largest sigh she could muster. Aiming her next words at it, she speaks in a much less cheerful tone. “… I thought I told you NOT to follow me.”
